Have wanted Ames for the last two rounds. Was hoping he'd last!

Really feel he's overrated as a keeper, good batsman though

I doubt that's strictly true - it's less than 2 years since the death of the last man he stumped in a Test match.

If Godfey Evans had Ames as his 'hero' then Ames must have been pretty good.

Ames is also one of a handful of English keepers who have successfully kept to a quality leg-spinner. The most difficult of keeping duties.

Until his debut for Kent, Evans had had no coaching at all as a wicket-keeper. The diving and gymnastics were in part a conscious attempt to attract attention and convince county officials he was the obvious candidate to succeed Les Ames.

Both Ames, who was Evans's hero, and 'Hopper' Levett, another former Kent wicket-keeper, were ever generous with kindly counsel. Evans had so much admired the way Ames kept to the leg-spinner Tich Freeman; now it was his turn to excel in partnership with the brilliant, unpredictable Doug Wright.

Quite happy with that bowling unit. Some nice variety in there. Also moved the batting order up by a slot, I think it looks better that way.
