Interesting press conference transcript with Richard Jefferson on the Bucks' website which gives some real insight into a players end of the trade situation. He says he didn't want to leave the Jets and talks about how he was disappointed to be moving on.
Shame the band had to let him go, really.

Swapping NY for Milwaukee is probably the reason. He can't hit the Brooklyn clubs after a match anymore. Milwauke just isn't attractive for a lot of players in that sense.

Haha, been to both and know what you mean. However, Milwakee does have four bars on every corner, so he shouldn't have too much trouble finding a place to drink. Given they play 9 games a week I wouldn't think players would have that much time during the season to go out.

ESPN News, Brand signs 5 year deal with 76ers

Stefanski does the impossible, keeping all our major pieces and adds our missing banger. :notworthy
that makes the 76rs better, but i still can't see beyond maybe the conf semifinals for that team....:)

the clippers on the other hand are in trouble...losing both brand and most likely maggette as well...davis is good, but he isn't good enough to make up for brand's absence...

I'm a bit more optimistic than 2nd round. Our main problem last season was scoring in a half court offence mainly because we didn't have a banger who could be reliable in the low post.Step up Elton Brand. Elton also is a genuinely good weak side shotblocker and grabs plenty of boards so he'll compliment Dalembert well.

What this does for us is make Iggy a tradeable piece without hurting our team. The FO has made it clear they see Thaddeus Young as our SF of the future so cashing in on Iguodala and getting another guard who can shoot and defend the perimeter would be a good move to complete the team. Haven't been this excited since the A.I 2001 days. I see us having the legs to challenge in the East.

sorry as good as brand is and he would make the team better, the celtics and the pistons(unless they go through a total facelift for next season as joe dumars threatened) are definitely better, the cavs and the magic are i think slightly better although that would be a competitive series...although if they trade iguodala as you say and bring in some good talent, they could definitely vault to no: 3 in the east...still not enough to become conf champs...

Cleveland and Orlando have plenty of issues to deal with as of now while our only deficiency from what I see is not having a genuine perimeter shooter to fall back on.

I think our team has been built howit should be built. Have a genuine superstar and complimentary pieces around him, other than the Celtics I fear no-one, we were far too athletic for the Pistons on the break but they shut us down in the half-court. They won't be able to do that this time around so very confident we could take them.

Anyways, all speculation right now, 08/09 is the first season I'm genuinely excited about for a long long time now.

i agree it is a good team but just don't think they are championship contenders just yet, i have my doubts on conf title contention as well...anyway let's wait until all the wheeling and dealing is done and then look at the final picture...:)

Isn't Iguadola on the final year of his rookie contract? If you trade him, you'd be able to get rid of a fat contract you don't want along with him. I think the easiest thing to do would be to trade for Hinrich.

Iguodala's contract isn't bad at all for a player of his quality and a 5 year 55m that he wanst isn't an albatross contract by any means. Would be happy to keep him as he can be an above average SG as a starter and move to SF when Thad rests, but the feeling is I think that we can upgrade by shopping him.

Bulls wouldn't go for Hinrich straight up. They already have Deng and Nocioni as their SF's so unless we move other pieces(which is unlikely) we'd have to go elsewhere to a team with a surplus of good guards.(Memphis?) I do agree though, Hinrich would be a great fit.

I think this was done on draft night but because of TJ Ford's contract couldn't be officially anounced till Today. Nice move for Jawai, he'll get decent minutes resting O'Neal and Bargnani. JO is ridiculously fragile these days too, so Nate could get a lot more minutes as the season goes on.

Happy for Bogut too. Not just for the money which was expected but because he can finally start playing for the Boomers now. Incidentally we beat a strong Brazil side with Barbosa,Splitter and Vicinius. Our bigs Chris Anstey and Newly had a field day against a Brazil without Nene too but we're going to need him once the real games start if we want to compete for a medal.

Huh, Nuggets trade Camby to the Clippers for the option of trading 2nd round picks in 2009?

Wow, trading away their first round this year, letting Najera walk to NJ and now this it seems pretty obvious that they've given up and are now looking to just dump salary.

In an article by Sam Alipour on ESPN(This is at the ESPY"S) , he said that Melo was Mellow. He implied that Melo is usually more outgoing but he seemed nervous.Melo said, "One of my closet friends was traded for a bag of beans (and a second round pick)." "The FO had to do what they had to do because at the end of the day it's buisness."

He was then asked if the Nuggets are looking to start over and Melo replied "We'll see what they do in the next couple weeks."

Now they only have Hunter, Nene and Martin as their bigs and two are almost permanently crocked and one hasn't seen the court for two years. At least after this season they can let AI's $21m contract go and be well under the cap for the 2010 sweepstakes.

yeah letting najera and camby go, the nuggets must have felt that their team was just too defense-oriented....:)
george karl has proved to be a failure again and again and again....wonder why he is still around...

artest to the rockets...artest with a healthy mcgrady and yao and scola and the rockets will automatically become a serious contender even in a strong west...i feel the lakers missed a trick not doing more to rope in artest, he would have helped them get over the "toughness" hump and they could have won the ring next year, they can still win but this would have been a great acquisition...

It's still all on T-Mac and Yao to prove they're not big game chokers. Ron will help them as he's the best SF defensively in the league but Yao and Tracy will still be ones with the ball in their hands in the big moments come playoff time.
