Also, it is possible that Shoaib may not end up in an all time Pakistan XI but that is not because he is no good or over rated, but because Pakistan has produced so many outstanding pacer over the years. I personally think If a pakistan XI was to pick to play in Australia where they would require 3 fast bowlers and one spinner, I would pick Akhtar ahead of Waqar.
Really? I have to disagree with your last point, as Waqar did things with the ball that had never been seen in such measure. Not to mention that Waqar was at one point one of the fastest bowlers in the world. Waqar at his best was said to be one of the greatest bowlers ever, and though Shoaib is on occasion unplayable, he can rarely prolong his best to more than a few matches, though this may be because of his incredibly frustrating (genuine) injury problem.

What's with people going along with this fallacy that the pitches are so much easier for batting in the subcontinent? Subcontinental tracks are no easier or harder to bat on than any around the world, in fact I'd say Australian pitches are the flattest around at the moment and the fact that the Aussies win so many matches at home is due to their brilliant bowling.
It seems to be a point people tend to use to denigrate a subcontinental batsman, while at the same time when an equal batsman from another region fails in the subcontinent it's written off as an anomaly.
No i do not agree with that. Pakistani pitches are the flattest. No question in my mind.

Lack of heart is pretty difficult to get past - going back to the overrated issue, rather than Lee vs Akhtar, not having heart, everyone knowing you don't have heart, and people still arguing your case as a great bowler, selecting you for world XI's etc, is certainly to be overrated.
Shoaib being overrated doesn't change the fact that he's still hugely superior to Lee.

More accurate I think would be to say that Pakistani grounds have historically tended to produce more flat pitches than those in any other country.
