Mundine v Green

The Argonaut

State Vice-Captain
Mundine did it easily. Green tried hard but couldn't match the efficiency of Mundine. I was impressed by the fitness of both guys. Mundine looked fresh even at the end. That said, neither of them landed a big blow on his opponent.

I though Hopoate had killed that other fellow. I was glad that he eventually got up. I think they did pick him out of a nearby pub.

I felt sorry for the guy who lost the fight after Hoppa. He was essentially slung to the ground in a clinch, busted his ankle and couldn't go on. It was only 2 minutes into the fight.

Did they all stand up to a chorus of cracked hips when Mundine won?

they were all actually a little quiet. I don't think they liked Mundine very much. They got a bit cut up when I kept on cheering for Mundine

You sure it wasn't the look babies make when they poo their pants?

For all the crap that Mundine cops he is a great role model for children. Fair enough he trash talks - but that is boxing. He is usually gracious in defeat and respectful when he wins. He doesn't drink, smoke or gamble. Certainly a better role model than the likes of Sailor, Gower, Warne and the like.

not sure if mundine would have been so nice if green had won tho
Green was never going to beat Mundine. Mundine is a much better fighter and athlete. However, if he had of lost I don't think he would have been bad about it, he would have been much like Green - dissapointed but respectful of the other opponents ability.

People talk about how humble Green was the other night. Fact is, when you cop an absolute hammering, you don't have much choice - you have to be humble about it. By contrast, as the clear victor, Mundine had a choice - be humble or rub it in. To his credit, he chose the former. Green, though, had no choice.

Yeah that's a pretty good point.

I can understand why people get sick of his talking, but surely there is much more leeway for trash talking when it comes to boxing. Its a pretty big element of the sport, and often makes it more interesting. Much more different than trash talking in cricket, tennis or whatever.

Did you watch the fight? It was hardly an absolute hammering.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find any professional boxer who smokes and drinks.
Even so. He was like that when he was a rugby league player, and we all know what they get up to...

Scott Harrison, WBO Featherweight champion?
I have no idea who that is, but it's featherweight, they're like 4 kg's. They probably have to smoke 14 packs a day to try and weigh in under the limit.
