So who else can be included in it ? I have not included Bumrah, Shami, Ashwin or Jadeja. They will in contention in a few years if they keep performing like this. Srinath, Zaheer and Kumble(arguably) are replaceable in a few years.

International Vice-Captain
Prasanna, Gupte, Chandra.
Did not want to play 3 spinners. 40 years back, when we had Solkar and Gavaskar opening the bowling due to no pace bowling options, it made sense to have all 3 of Bedi,Prasanna and Chandra in the team. A line up of Kapil, Srinath, Zaheer, Kumble and Mankad is well rounded imo.

Also, need batting until 8-9 at least. Neither of our reputed spinners of that era could hold a bat.

Also time to make a Shami vs Srinath thread imo
Shami in no where close to as threatening the health of batsmen as Srinath. But he uses what ever abilities far better than Srinath. Shami is a fighter. Srinath was a softcock. If Srinath has had that badassary, then he would have been rivaling Wasim as a fast bowler.

That attack would struggle to pick up 20 wickets against any decent batting order though.
Which actually transpired because some of that attack played together for considerable periods...

Need to find a way of fusing the current bowling lineup (and all rounders) who regularly take 20 wickets, with the batting of late 90s/most of 2000s.

Whatever it takes!!!
Jaddu, if he keeps up this record of last 3 or 4 years till retirement will surely make the XI and then we will have 2 genuine allrounders (3, if you wanna include Dhoni in there) and will balance the side amazingly well.

mankad just too valuable to a side to overlook imo. blokes who hold their spot in the top 4-5 and are test class bowlers are so rare and valuable.
