Except cricket and tennis, I have rarely watched any others sports in the last 20 years.

NBA - The only names I know in last 20 years is LeBron James & some Serbian called Jokic(that too because Novak Djokovic talks about him).

F-1 : The last time I watched Schumacher was champion. I have no idea who has won and how many titles they have since then.

MLB - Babe Ruth. No idea about any other player.

NHL - Wayne Gretzky. No idea about any other player.

NFL - The greatest player can come in front of me and I would not recognise him.

Football - Messi & Ronaldo are the only two names I know in recent times

The truth is unless you follow the sport you would not recognise any name regardless of how much they transcended the sport like media tells.
Boxing - Ali, Tyson.

i think David Beckham transcended football circles despite not being the best player in the world. I think he is the definition of a 'popular' sportspoerson.

Shohei Ohtani might be the most famous now. Guess Barry Bonds, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron are great shouts.

And you don't know Antony? He's the future GOAT candidate (take my word for it).

Slats the obvious one coming to mind for cricket. Probably some other blokes previously too that I’m forgetting. At least we haven’t had any cricketers shoot their partners, even in South Africa.
