Tomm NCCC

The fact he has been diagnosed wioth depression. God, Imagine being on a night out with him

Tom: Hey Marcus, go and chat up that nice young woman across the bar :D

Marcus: Uh, oh, I dont feel like it, I want to go home and watch freeview porn instead :(

The most Boring batsman ever, is Matthew Hoggard. A strike rate of about 8, and an average thats even worse

When I go to the cricket to watch the Aussies I really hope I don't have to see a long Justin Langer innings (endured one on boxing day once, not pretty). They hold no interest for me - nothing he does is attractive. Hayden doesn't do it for me either, and even though Hussey is great to have in the team, I don't exactly get excited when he comes into bat.

Off all the specialist batsman around these days I think Ashwell Prince would be the one that bores me the most.

Yeah he's up there.

Personally I don't find batsmen who simply score slowly boring. Dravid isn't boring, Hussey certianly isn't boring, and Kallis isn't really boring either. If they're batting well, that's the main thing. I don't find stonewalling tailenders like Hoggard or Gillespie that boring to watch either. Actually Gillespie's been great fun to watch with the bat over the years. His innings at Chennai in 2004 was classic. Watching someone score runs against the odds is always fun, whether they are a tailender or a top order bat from Zimbabwe or Bangladesh.

You need a combination of mediocre, disappointing batting and lack of strokeplay to be dull to watch, and Prince is certainly up there. Chopra was pretty horrid as well.

I quite enjoy watching Langer...ugly as it may be at times.

Kallis and Prince's partnership last season almost killed me.

I'd be more bored watching somebody like Collingwood, rather than Kallis, Dravid or Prince. Collingwood by my opinion, is a pretty ugly player, whereas Kallis and Dravid have a really good technique, and play good defensive shots and so on.

Not the worst tbh, but nah give it a miss. If you are going to read an old cricket book go for Googlies by 'Ranji' Hordern:)
Not sure how I'd go finding that over here in London, this could be a job for Amazon...

Haven't seen you around for awhile mate, welcome back:)

And yes he was slow.

I watched a lot of Boycott, I quite enjoyed him tbh had a great technique, a pleasure to watch, if a little too cautious:)
Thanks Kindly

Good old Chris Tavare (but he could score quick in CC) - and Kallis - because IMO he has the ability to score quickyl but doesn't do it often enough (amazingly he has the fastest test 50 in terms of balls faced - albeit against Zimbabwe) and he was brilliant against us in Durban in 2004 when he was down to Ntini and Steyn as partners. Why he couldn't do that at Centurion in 2005 and Sydney this year when SA really needed him to do it I have no idea - they MIGHT have saved both series if he had.

Gideon Haigh said he would choose that book if he could only take one cricket book to a desert island

Not an easy book to find :)

I thought him (Martyn) the most graceful since MEW :)

That's a bit harsh on Martyn, just because he's not a big hitter doesn't mean he is boring. He was an excellent player to watch, incredinly graceful.
