India were lucky to make the final IMO. They weren't the second-best team of the tournament. Being gifted a semi-final against Kenya was just taking the ****

Well exactly, that whole tournament was a farce. The only thing it got right was the best team winning it, but everything which led up to that was ridiculous.

The covid affected India-England test series which stopped at 2-1 with India leading and dominating. Later, a one-off test with different personnel gets attached to it and series ends 2-2.

It is 2-1 India and a test series win in England for me.
I’d have more sympathy for this if india hadn’t abandoned ship - that’s what led to the fifth cancellation after all

In which case, England should've left India after winning the First Test there and claimed a series victory.

You can't just head back home when you're winning....(although Aussies might want to consider it if they ever want to win in England again).

made our bowlers look much worse than they actually were.
Your bowlers couldn't have been any worse that day tbh. Zaheer Khan gobbing off at Gilchrist and Hayden early on then going for 67 off seven overs was quite an effort on his part.

Was reading the 2019 WC final thread earlier and found this...

Wow what a finish, craziest World Cup final ever and I doubt that will ever be surpassed

Number of boundaries seems such a weird metric to decide a winner on. Surely wickets lost would make more sense? Well those are the rules I guess
Cheers for your good sense TJB :)

I assume I've contradicted that many times since but I'll take that as the compliment I'm sure it was intended as

Not too much into digging old threads up but must say I checked this one out about a year ago. As much as it still stings a bit even thinking about it,
the reality is that we're very unlikely to witness a world cup final as good again.
Would love nothing more than a Blackcaps/England final later this year with revenge to take place, but unfortunately find that hard to see atm.

Bazball is rescuing the integrity of cricket, so England are default moral victors in every test they play, even before a ball is bowled. The rest is just to give 22 men a bit of fresh air and vitamin D.

2016 Pakistan tour of Australia
Actual Score: 3-0 Australia
Moral Score: 2-1 Australia (Pakistan made 450 chasing 489 in the first test which is insane and they deserved the victory. Due to butterfly effect the series could really have gone 3-0 to Pakistan, we'll never know)

Plenty of rain affected ones but those are very obvious and don't need much discussion
No that chase felt like a fluke.

Moral victory
Australia lost 1-0 to Pakistan in 1994 after dominating them the entire series, losing by 1 wicket in the freak first test and Pakistan have to be bailed out by Malik to draw the next two tests. Probably the most one sided loss ever.
Moral score 2-0 Australia
