You seem rather fixated with this comparisonYes both have the stain of match fixing , but should remembered for much more than that ...These were two very elegant players .
Don't try to fix this thread nowYes both have the stain of match fixing , but should remembered for much more than that ...These were two very elegant players .
Disagree. Both had limited abilities which they made full use of till you know what happened. They were not great talents who could play outrageous shots all over the wicket. Two of of the biggest underachievers given the talent they had.
I rate Azhar slightly higher but there was no better watch in cricket then Salim Malik in full flight.
Azhar did all right though. Allegedly owns 1000cr worth of property in the Hyderabad Old City aloneAt least Malik tried once to fix for Pakistan to win rather than lose. Point in his favor.
Yes. Azhar had the better career but Malik is better on quality.I'll give you guys great odds that Malik will win the thread
Malik was one of the early era finishers in odis, his odi batting under Imran when he could not fix at will had some real clutch knocks.Seriously though, at first I thought Azhar but looking at their records, Malik comes up ahead.
Malik was the first batsman to master Warne at his peak. Two back to back matchsaving tons against Warne in a mega series. Malik had key performances in three consecutive series victories in England. In Headingly, where most Pakistani batsmen struggled, he mastered the conditions.
Azhar had a lot of soft runs overseas that IMO pads his record. But he was probably a better player against pure pace.
There's a late cut in that knock he played to Klusener. Not an open-faced dab, but an actual 360 degree wrist-rotated "cut" taken ridiculously late. It's what you think a late cut ought to look like but never see in real life. Some of Azhar great knocks are orgasmic his hundred at lords then thee is one at Adelaide and my favourite is a partnership he and Sachin had in South Africa in 96 absolutely outrageous batting.
That partnership is one that turned a 10 yr old me from a Pakistan fan to a cricket fan. Changed my perspective of why I love the game. There's a late cut in that knock he played to Klusener.
