Mitch Marsh test career

International Debutant
I know he had some handy contributions in the ashes but if he still worth persisting on for tests, I’d say no at this point and his older now plus Cam Green is there.

I’d keep building him up for the short formats though think his real handy and can have another 4-5 years in Aus odi and t20 teams

I like him. At the very least he should keep Green on his toes. Sometimes an older player having a spell in the side ahead of a more talented younger player does the trick.

I think Green gets the spot back for Pakistan and West Indies.

Marsh as his backup or a younger all-rounder may get an opportunity, like Aaron Hardie.

He’s an absolute lock in the shorter formats.

I’m a big fan. I don’t see any harm in him playing tests if it’s on merit. Wouldn’t actually hurt Green to spend a few games batting at 3 or 4 for WA.

Green has a long future barring injury. But he needs to work on his batting tempo.

I also think Marsh is a genuine captaincy candidate if he can hold his spot.

He's still a hack with bat imo. Strikes a great ball but donks down his foot and shoves his hands at ball constantly. Maybe goes ok at home against two dire teams but is he worth persisting with vs Green as you develop for big series in future? Not for me.

Given we aren't exactly flush with batting options might have to reverse my no Marsh policy. I mean he's tonned and scored a fifty in England and seems at least capable now of keeping out a straight ball. He's not bad on the short ball either. Definitely a middle order option now.

Is Marsh good in the slips? I think he’s pretty decent in the gully.

Travis Head is more of a hack

Gotta love a guy hacking his way to a 45 test avg

Just let him play the short stuff then wheel him out next winter when we're over again.
This. He would likely go back to being utterly useless even against the Windies in test cricket. That would be a good chance for Green to massage his stats. Green, I think will become a good middle order bat. Don't see him ever being up to much with the ball though.

When I first saw him last year I thought his bowling had more about it than he showed this summer.

Won't write him off but at the moment, I'd find it hard to argue that he's even the best Australian all-rounder called Cameron and whose surname is a colour that I've ever seen.

My feeling is Australia will play green against Pakistan to give him same Confidence and Runs which he badly needs.

Marsh has made selections hard for this summer.

I had seen enough in all of the series he has played, including the wickets he blagged against the awful performing England team of the 2021/22 tour to conclude that I didn't think he had that much about him. Sure, he's still young but the number of wickets across 24 tests hardly suggest a prolific contributor in the bowling field, especially if he is going to be somewhat interrupted from bowling because of injury.

As well as Cameron White and Cameron Green there's also Chris Green (T20 spinner with dodgy action who plays in lots of leagues).

I think Cameron Green is good enough to average low 40s with the bat and low 30s with the ball.
