Given the precedent set in here though, I could just continuously post "Approaching 10,000 soon" over and over in here until I actually hit it, at which time I could then post "10,000 up." I actually don't mind the latter as I said before and I'll probably pop in here when I hit 5000, but people who come in here saying they are approaching milestones - or worse still, declare goal milestones - really get on my nerves.

I don't mind the "approaching X", TBH - as long as it's within 3 or 4 posts, not 40 or 50, and as long as it's a grand's milestone. Just a century is silly IMO - I've done that in a single day more times than I can count.
Quite agree on declaring goal milestones - utterly defies the point of posting on the boards AFAIC. Those who do such a thing let themselves in for some rightful derision. Though TBF it's only a very small number.
And on that note - when I posted this, you were on 3,999 !
