Michael Clarke Vs Doug Walters

Ashes81

State Vice-Captain
Clarke for me as he has a better all round record.

Walters was obviously a very good player but never did it in England were his technique was found wanting.

Didn't have to bowl a great deal with the fast bowlers he played with , but he was definitely a bowler just that he was so damn good with the bat and a love for good food he didn't want to overextend himself which would have shortened his career. Reason I say this is he could genuinely swing the ball , powerfully built man and for the majority of his career he was bowling medium pace , but when he really bent his back and put some attention into getting the fitness required for Bowling he was reaching speeds of 140-145 even into his mid 30's .. that's genuine evidence of bowling ability let alone the fact he has over 500 international wickets in his career for someone who 'bowled a bit'
Don’t worry mate I know, tongue-in-cheek reference to someone else’s views on him.

Merely an observation. I always liked Clarke tbh and never understood why he seemed to be so despised. He just didn't physically seem to match with the stereotype imposed on him. To me he always looked like the weathered 35 year old actor shoehorned into the role of a high school student.
