Again, why exactly?
Because shes not high on experiance (especially when compared to the guys that could be doing it) and she wouldnt have bowled to the likes of which McGrath and co. bowl to. Its not because shes a woman, its because shes not qualified.

And Buchannan has of course bowled to the worlds great batsmen in his time ...

Haha, if she was coaching, itd be a bit dodgy. What could she possibly advise McGrath or Lee on?

McGrath would teach her stuff, but being the fastest bowler in womens cricket she female equivilent of Lee.

I'm surprised nobody's made the "how could they tell she was a woman?" comment yet. If so, I'll be the first - how embarrassing.
Fair enough, I guess. With an average of 18.62 in tests and 14.24 in ODI's she can't be half bad though.

Ponting is fair enough, but Hayden from everything I've heard about him is a pretty quiet and friendly guy... and frankly if an opposing fast bowler threw a ball at me and hit me I'd probably be a bit annoyed as well. Certainly Hayden was no more at fault than Mr. Smack-Myself-On-The-Head-When-I-Take-A-Wicket or Collingwood in that confrontation.

I don't have any particular love for Hayden, but I'd place him more in the Gilchrist or Lee category of Australian players who are genuinely nice guys than the Ponting/McGrath/Lehmann one.
I heard that he had sledged Lara with very very harsh words during the series in 2003 in WI and that Lara was really angry with it all and was giving back as good as he got to Hayden. It seems Hayden then was so impressed with BCL's efforts in the series that he called him the best batsman he has seen and some other nice things after which they got along pretty well. He is not exactly the Ponting category, but he isn't really in the Gilly, Lee category either, mainly because he says and writes stupid arrogant stuff pre series only to have to eat his words later.

i think your all making too much off the 'someone refused throwdowns from her' coment.

that,to me sounds exactly like something the press have twisted to make it sound good.

he probably just didn't want any throwdowns at all.

Except she's actually good relative to her peers ;)

I find it hard to believe that’s what has happened with the throwdown incident...I think it's unfair that people start suggesting that they are male chauvinists without knowing the full truth. The cricketers have people looking up to them I don’t think they can afford to be that cheap. It’s probably the media adding colours to it…these are the type of stories they live for.

She's almost definitely the best bowler in the history of women's cricket afaik. I don't see how she wouldn't be highly qualified. You could make the same argument about any coach- "what could they teach McGrath?" etc. What could ANY coach teach McGrath?
