Aren't you being too generous. But the thread isn't on mediocre human beings?
Totally agree with this. Sidebottom was really good.Sidebottom was better than mediocre wasn't he?
Definitely less deserving of that categorisation than almost everyone else on that list.
Adam Parore was a top quality keeper (his main discipline) - footwork and glove work were excellent. Best NZ sledger too. Had a pretty good batting technique, but underperformed with the bat.As a kid, was a massive fan of Manoj Prabhakar, Carl Hooper, Graeme Hick, Michael Slater, Adam Parore, Jonty Rhodes.... A veritable who's who of international mediocrity in their main disciplines.
It's funny, I want to leap to the defense of Nash and Parore...but when you look back at their records, they are pretty rubbish - Parore's especially. Averaging around 26 in both formats, massive underperformer for his level of talent. If someone scored those sort of runs today, they'd be banished without a second thought - yet Parore played pretty solidly for NZ for 12 years. He was an exceptional gloveman throughout that time but definitely benefitted a) from being an 'alpha male' in a group that valued that over actual performance b) not a lot of competition. Did play some outstanding innings at times (Perth 01, debut century in India I think) but obviously failed miserably around that.New Zealand - Craig Spearman, Dion Nash, Adam Parore
