So Younis Khan playing in the UAE was counted as away? Seems like a cop out
Meh I cbf changing it around I just did searches for home and away/neutral. I remembered about Younis’ circumstances near the end but I was getting sleepy. fwiw he averages 48.76 away. Just wondering for this purpose for Pakistani cricketers, would you count UAE as home?So Younis Khan playing in the UAE was counted as away? Seems like a cop out
47.80 and 39.02 @ 79.71 respectivelyWhat was Brian Lara average away from home in test matches and one day international cricket
I think so, definitely wouldn't count it as awayJust wondering for this purpose for Pakistani cricketers, would you count UAE as home?
So fwiw these are the 50+ overall batsmen who don’t qualify.I was bored. Batsmen who average 50+ home and away (min 10 innings for both).

17 batsmen out of the 42 total that average 50 (min 20 innings)
Boycott also has a 99 and a 99*.Mike Smith (Eng) and Greg Blewett (Aus) are the only 2 batsmen to be dismissed for 99 twice in tests, both ending up wjth less than 5 centuries as a result. Misbah holds the distinction of being the only batsmen in test history to be dismissed for 99 and left on 99*.
You’re right damn completely missed Boycotts not out and Misbah’s second 99.Boycott also has a 99 and a 99*.
Misbah is unique in scoring three 99s (including the 99*)
I'm surprised that sort of information is readily available for the older test matches.Per Andy Zaltman, Alex Lees just became the first opener in Test history to score off his first 5 balls faced then be dismissed from his sixth.
Glad we've finally found a record-setting opener!Per Andy Zaltman, Alex Lees just became the first opener in Test history to score off his first 5 balls faced then be dismissed from his sixth.
Fair point. Maybe he caveated it with 'where data is available' or the like.I'm surprised that sort of information is readily available for the older test matches.
Starc averages 40 against the top order
AgreeStats for any sub 140 km/h pace bowler who went for longegivity over pace should be ignored. Bye bye McGrath, Anderson, Broad and Walsh
Gayle's record is impressive since he debuted in 1999Rohit Sharma scored 450 sixes in minimum no. Of innings
Even though i think Murali>Warne, WPI is a stupid reason to rank Murali ahead. Murali has no competition for wickets while Warne has lots ofI hope not. Let's be honest, none of us are immune to having our biases about players shape our bias of stats, and while there are plenty of other good reasons to rank Warne ahead, Murali's WPM/I is a clearly solid reason to rank him ahead, lack of competition notwithstanding.
FTR, massively agree with the Vern example. Vern did not just have a problem with 'glass knees'... he was just a holding bowler without a lively ball on favourable pitches... and a lazy one, which made his average look really good. Doesn't matter how many games he dodged (I have no idea what the number is). He would have averaged mid 20s+ if he was bowling enough to get anywhere near to 5WPM in the games he played in, even ignoring his alleged pitch dodging.
So it's good when it makes Botham good but bad when it makes Imran goodOr conversely, excluding a large early chunk of a player's career. I always find it funny that this is often done with Imran, as if his figures weren't good enough already despite the fact he took a while to sort his action out.
I do actually think that there is some merit to looking at how players varied over their careers, particularly with someone like Botham who was a completely different player after his back injuries and weight gain from '82, or even, alluding to the discussion above, differences in batting position over a career where it is a factor in the relevant discussion, but such things are rarely given the context they require to be meaningful and are usually just a disingenuous way of trying to eulogise/belittle liked/disliked players.
Yeah I absolutely would. A home game IMO is a game your own board has picked the venue for, rather than the ICC or the board of the opposition. I'd even count that series against Aus in England as home for them. Cricinfo just find it easier to match up the country it's played in with the national teams.Just wondering for this purpose for Pakistani cricketers, would you count UAE as home?
Yes I will count UAE home as PCB had a say in the type of pitch being prepared.Meh I cbf changing it around I just did searches for home and away/neutral.
