Thanks, i was happy to read in your report that i wasn't the only team in our division that hasn't scored a 100. BTW will Porter be back for our game in two weeks.
Yeha it's bascially my bowling that's been winning it for me. Three out of the top 4 div 1 bowlers are mine, and everyone one of them averages under 26 (Kumble leading wicket taker with 22 at 11.8!). So I'm just glad that the batting hasn't had to perform. Course, if your lot post a big total.. then things will be very interesting!

Anyway Porter certainly will :D

well.. unless he gets injured again

Yeah he and Kumble are dominating, interestingly enough though Kumble's been more effective. Kumble's taken 22 wickets from 81 overs @ 11.86. Snow 20 wickets from 94 overs @ 16.85.

Snow has best bowling in match so far. Kumble best in an innings, including 5 ducks to the opposition http://www.cricketweb.net/worldclubcricket/stats/week2/allscorecardsweek2.txt :D

Well my team only posted one decent score all season, 300 odd aganist the Bulls. But you never know with VC4. My bowlers have been ok apart from one game aganist Lanchashire. My best chance i think is if Hawkins has a blinder, his been ok but i expected more from him. His meant to be the No 1 spinner in the WCC, but my No 2 spinners Butt has out performed him.

Nah Hawkins is up there, but Snow and Clarke share number 1 AFAIC. There's a few other blokes floating around as well.. so I'm definitely not going to rate anyone other than those two who are just total freaks.

Just a quick one to say the standard of reports this week is excellent - this sort of interaction will really get the sponsors ready with their cheque-books!

Obviously happy to get rid of Si! *ducks*

Fantastic game by the lads, good old Rangnekar seems happy enough to be back under the old boss and we batted really well. More in-depth report to come at some point.

Colts stayed an extra week in Melbourne, to play a 4-day match, hosted once again at the MCG. Colts were looking for blood after the recent embarrassment in the one-day arena, and decided to bat first after winning the toss. The Colts strong batting line-up looked to dominate early, and some aggressive batting saw 3 quick wickets fall. Troughton and Razzaq then set about building a large total, and as the Vics began to throw the ball around, plenty of runs were on offer. It took the return of openers Harwood and Harvey to eventually remove the Colts duo. Once that was done Harwood removed the tail quiet cheaply. Colts all out 310, with Troughton 112 and Harwood 6/97.

Victoria’s turn to bat, and the issue here was partnerships, only Ian Harvey (91*) and Mike Hussey (61) showed any resistance. Harvey making an unbeaten 91 runs, Abdul Razzaq 5/40. Bushrangers all out 261.

Colts turn to bat again and Troughton and Razzaq fell early as well as Madanagopal completed his pair. Salman Butt batted a long time for his 69, and Darden (49), also attempted to bat for as long as possible. Once the resistance was crushed by Welsford and Harvery the Colts were all out for 216.

Victoria set 265 to win on a crumbling wicket, with a fragile tail, this was going to be an uphill battle. Matty Elliot (99) was up to the challenge, and along with Yapp (38) gave the Vics a great chance to win being 1/129, the collapse came and at 9/247 the game looked as lost as Matthew Fox. But fast bowlers Welsford and Lewis combined for a 19 run partnership to steal the game from the Colts by a sole wicket.

Well done Colts for a close game, better luck next time Age.

Cricketer Of The Year
Charity day at Manuka

Well after finding out that West Australia were going to be forfeiting the clash between themselves and ACT, ACT manager Brendon Goff decided it was in his sides best interests to get a game to keep their good form going.

He decided to contact WA and see if they were interested in a friendly match at Manuka oval and give all the earnings to Charity. The chairmen of the WACA agreed it was a great idea and gave the go ahead.

Plenty of work was put in into contacting sponsors and organising everything in the 2 days prior to the game, but with the hard work put in by both clubs the event was bound to be a success.

A capacity crowd of 13,000 packed Manuka Oval on a beautiful Canberra day and when the 2 sides took the field the crowd roared.

ACT had won the toss and decided to make the most of the perfect conditions and went in to bat. The 1st session was a good one for the visitors as they reduced ACT to 3/87 with the bug 3 Dawn, Platt and Ponting all back in the pavilion.
After lunch the hosts fell deeper into trouble losing Paynter, Agnew and James to be reeling at 6/197 at tea on Day 1. After Tea Hutchinson and Tamhane began the resurrection before Tamhane’s dismissal signalled another mini collapse ACT falling to 9/252 before Hutchinson and Laker put on the runs. Hutchinson brought up his debut 100 whilst Laker was on track for a half century until he was dismissed 1 run short. Hutchinson left not out on 129, ACT All Out 361, A good fight back after being in early trouble.

In Reply WA could not have got a worse start, losing Tully 3rd ball to Laker. Hayward was next to go leaving WA 2/59, However Clarke and Wilkins began the revival taking the score to 166 before Clarke was dismissed 9 runs short of his 100. Wilkins fought on but his partners kept getting starts and getting dismissed before Jenkins dug in. Jenkins and Wilkins took the score from 263 to 363 before Jenkins fell for 42, from which Laker then took the next 3 wickets for only 12 runs. Wilkins remaining not out 137, WA in front by 14 runs. Laker continuing his good form bagging 5 wickets.

ACT began 14 runs behind and had no trouble in clearing the deficit, they then pushed the score onto 50 before a mix up saw Dawn runout for 19. Paynter didn’t last much longer as he was bowled by Mathur for 37, ACT 2/68. Platt and Ponting pushed the score along to 136 before Platt was again dismissed after getting a start. ACT then lost Ponting for 53 and Agnew for 36 to leave them in a little trouble at 5/205. Hutchinson and James joined at the wicket and set about rescuing the innings. Both looked confident and pushed the score along at a decent rate. The pair got ACT to a situation where they could look at a possible declaration, one which came with the score at 5/365. Both batsmen remained not out, Hutchinson on 81 and James on 82.

Requiring 352 to take the match WA had yet another bad start, difference from the 1st innings was there was no recovery. Tully, Clarke, Hayward, Wilkins and Evans were all gone with the score on 56. Burns hung around looking confident but his task was always going to be a tough one with only the tail to help him. WA’s final chance was gone when Burns was dismissed for 89 with the score at 245, WA bowled out 1 run later. Laker again the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets.

Overall a great 4 days with plenty of Great cricket and a huge amount of money raised for charity.

From an ACT point of view, it was good to see Hutchinson stand up, and Laker responding to the fact that ACT have revealed they have a couple of very good quick bowlers in their youth program. The game will keep us in touch and will definitely be a help when we come to our next 4D game…

Hampshires Manager Reuben was elated with the first win in the 4day competition in the season and their first win among all matches.. After being criticized for his management tactics with the squad.. last seen abusing players like never seen before after their 4th loss of the season last week in the OD match.. the team seems to have gathered some confidence within a short period of time and whatever necessary to put up a very strong performance against Mumbai.. Brilliance and uplift in team spirit where the 2 key words Manager Reuben was heard saying in the Press conference shortly after the game.. He also noted saying that if they carried on performances such as these .. they would be only showered with more blessings..
Anyway game wise.. Mumbai won the toss and elected to bat first..Y Hills and S Tendulkar got off to an 'okay' start.. adding 27 before A Best Hampshires new fast bowler recruit for this season got the big big wicket of S Tendulkar with a stunning caught and bowled for 3. A Best struck once again removing L Owen for a measley 0. D Gamage the uglier of the gamage brothers, then removed opener Y Hills for 28 leaving Mumbai at a very critical position of 3/43.. D Gamage continued to pick up wickets along with A Best.. not letting Mumbai create any big partnership of such.. The only person who should some skill and sense in the Mumbai batting lineup was S Roth who scored a magnificent 122 off 197 .. while he witnessed on and on partners come from the pavillion and walk back to the pavillion.. Mumbai ended their innings with a very modest total of 277..Hampshire bowlers worked as a unit even though C Gamage was unfortunate to take any wickets.. he still bowled with a lot of heart and he weakened the batsmen before his ugly brother D Gamage was lucky to get them out.. D Gamage ended up with marvellous figures of 4/59.. and A Best the pick of the bowlers with 5/65 !
In Reply to Mumbai's okay total.. Hampshire started of well S Bin Nasir was unfortunate to get run out for 43..after that the crowd was blessed to witness Veteran star batsmen S Graham in some tremendous batting display with a big score of 147.. Captain I Ul Haq continued his poor batting form this season going out for 1 LBW to S Tait. S Pollard followed with a quickfire knock of 80 in 105 balls..and E Drake moved down lower in the order in this match..seemed very comfortable at the number 6 position scoring a much needed 101 NO and helped Hampshire reach a very formidable total of 440 A.O , leaving Hampshire with a satisfying lead of 163 runs. M Pushpakumara was the best of the Mumbai bowlers with solid figures of 5/98.

Mumbais 2nd Innings was a big disaster.. kind of like a nite with a hot girl you just meet one night and it doesnt go all to well and you just want to erase the memory out of your system forever... Their batting struggled once again and this time none of the batsmen failed to capitalize on anything. S Roth was again the highest scorer in the Mumbai innings this time with 23 runs.. but a kind of high score in comparison to the rest of the team that you would rather keep very quiet about.
The Hampshire bowlers bowled with bigger heart this time around.. the fast bowlers stuck to the gameplan they had used in the 1st innings.. except this time just deployed it better.. all 3 pace bowlers ended up with solid figures and a wicket each.. But the bowler that really rocked the whole Mumbai lineup was another newcomer into the Hampshire squad.. spinner P Shelley.. who bowled with great accuracy.. and ended up with stunning figures of 8-2-26-7... and if he contined to carry on this kind of form rest of the season he would without doubt cause some havoc among opposition teams.
Mumbai were bowled out for 107 runs leaving Hampshire with a huge win , winning by an innings an 56 runs !

Hampshire will be celebrating it big tonight after their first win... and hope this is a start to something more positive in the coming matches.

Warwickshire, put together another comfortable innings victory over the weekend.

Malcolm Jones did the initial damage as he steam rolled Yorkshire's batting line up taking 7/25. They were rolled for only 136. Only a defiant 51 from Tendulkar helped them get that far.

Sathish scored a superb century opening the batting, scoring 114. He found plenty of Sriram scoring 73 and Kaye 87 as Warwickshire charged through 450. Warwickshire have finally found the one aspect that their game has been missing over the past few seasons, with the ability to make big scores in the first innings now there.

Although Yorkshire put up a bigger fight in the second innings, 5/54 from Nelson ensured that Warwickshire wouldn't have to bat again. Yorkshire were all out for 264.

The division table to starting to take on an interesting shape. Karnataka (42) lead, but Warwickshire (41) are breathing right down their necks. Their up coming clash has a lot riding on it. Western Province (30) have stalled slightly but I'm sure we haven't heard the last from them. Yorkshire (20) after early success have plenty to be concerned about as Hampshire (19) catch right up. As for Mumbai (5), the former division one four day champions are in all sorts of ****. 3 defeats from 3 games means that another season in division 2 is now a long way off.

State Regular
Leicestershire forced to settle for draw by courageous Mashonaland

Despite being at the opposite ends of the divison 5 first class table and with the expectations of being comfortably beaten Mashonaland has managed to hold on by a mere 15 runs to secure a draw against Leicestershire at home.

Mashonaland decided to bat first on a pitch that didn't appear to give any favours to the bowlers. However, this didn't stop Leicestershire taking a wicket the very first ball of the match as Malik was sent packing with a slight edge through to Manjrekar off the bowling of Gallage. Despite being 1/ 0 and with a pitch giving everything to the batsmen Mashonaland produced a stunning 2nd wicket partnership of 161 between Ul Haq (77) and Waragoda (97), frustrating the Leicestershire bowlers as they were unable to gain any momentum, before Priyadarshana struck with the wicket of Ul Haq for 77 leaving Mashonaland 2/161. Mashonaland continued to build on the previous partnership as Eaton and Waragoda piled on an 82 run partnership before Gallage struck back with his 2nd wicket as Waragoda edged one to Manjrekar 3 runs short of a deserved century at 3/243. Gallage then struck a short time later removing Eaton with a well deserved 51 to keep Leicestershire in with a chance at 4/266. Bradshaw then chipped in with 2 wickets of Burns and Arnold leaving the score at 6/298 before another solid 7th wicket partnership between Carver and Rogers took Mashonaland to a very impressive 373 before Kingsley broke through removing Rogers for 28. Mushtaq hung around to support Carver but was removed on 22 by Gallage whilst the score was 8/420. Gallage then cleaned up the tail leaving Carver stranded on 76 and finally bowling Mashonaland out for 438. Best of the batsmen were Waragoda with 97, Ul Haq with 77 and Carver with an unbeaten 76 whilst there were not too many highlights for the bowlers apart from an impressive 6 for 67 from Gallage which kept Leicestershire in with a chance.

Leicestershire then started trying to make up the runs which Mashonaland had made as Brown and Brindell compiled a 36 run stand before Brindell was removed by a great delivery from Sami for 28. Then in a new move by Leicestershire Kingsley was rewarded with a chance to bat at number 3 and he didn't disappoint. The runs were being produced quite slowly as Brown and Kingsley put on a 118 run partnership before Brown was deceived by Arnold for 41 with the score 2/154. Wilkes then continued on as Kingsley knocked up his century. Wilkes fell for 47 but the partnership took Leicestershire to 3/255. McKenzie came to the crease and was creating another healthy partnership until Kingsley finally fell for a well made 137 from a Rogers delivery at 4/279. McKenzie and Underwood continued to reduce the lead, but as Wilkes and Brown had done, McKenzie to found himself back in the pavillion on 48 with the score on 5/334. Piggott then combined with Underwood for a contribution of 34 before departing from a well flighted ball from Mushtaq. Underwood then continued on with Manjrekar until Underwood misjudged and was caught and bowled by Mushtaq for a good score of 70 leaving Leicestershire 7/426. From there the remaining tail didn't last long and Leicestershire were bowled out for 498 with Manjrekar finishing 50 not out. Best of the batsmen were Kingsley with 137 and Underwood with 70 whilst for the bowlers Mushtaq took 3 for 71.

Mashonaland started their second innings 60 runs behind and the game turned as the Leicestershire bowlers had removed the first 4 wickets for 89 runs as both the heros Waragoda and Eaton found themselves stumped by Priyadarshana. With only a lead of 29 with 6 wickets in hand things were looking bad for the hosts but a terrific knock of 121 not out by Burns with the assistance of 49 from Arnold and an unbeaten 56 from Rogers drew a declaration by the home side finishing their second innings strongly at 5/326 giving them a lead of 266 runs.

Leicestershire then threw down the challenge as Brindell and Brown brought fear to the Mashonaland crowd by building a solid 84 run partnership before Brown departed for 34 from Khan. Then Kingsley continued with Brindell but the partnership was broken when Brindell departed for 60 as the bails went sailing through the air from a Mushtaq delivery leaving Leicestershire 2/128. With time running out and wickets in hand Wilkes tried to attack but was removed quite quickly by Rogers with the score 3/133. McKenzie continued his form and things were promising with Kingsley until Kingsley went for a charge and missed and departed on 28 from Mushtaq at 4/147. Underwood and McKenzie continued from where they left off in the 1st innings with another solid partnership before Underwood departed from a Sami rocket which sent the off stump into new heights for 30 with the score at 5/217. Piggott followed suit without troubling the scorers as Sami took out the off stump again with Leicestershire at 6/217. From there Leicestershire started to play a little more defensive and they fell 15 runs short from victory when the umpires called stumps for the final time with Leicestershire finishing at 6/252 as McKenzie finished 60 not out and Mushtaq again starring taking 2/55 and Sami taking 2/66.

With Free State losing the draw now puts Leicestershire into 1st place on the division 5 ladder on 41 pts whilst the win to Guyana sees them back into contention in 3rd. However on the other side the pitch was certainly a batsman's paradise and it from the 2 games Mashonaland have hosted both matches resulted in draws. Full credit to Mashonaland for showing up and their courageous effort should be mentioned. Leicestershire will now host Guyana in the next round of division 5 FC in what should be an exciting match.

South Australia Still In The Title Fight
Record First Win To Go Out Of Relegation Zone

Oliver Snow took 13 wickets for a pittance as South Australia moved out of the relegation zone in Division One of the WCC four-day league. The match was close and tense all the way through, South Australia losing Snow and Dravid early on for ducks to crawl to 6 for 2. However, Owen Foot's well-crafted 75 turned the match on its head, along with level-headed if small contributions from the entire lower order. Captain Midlane went with the rather unusual decision of opening the bowling with the spinner Oliver Snow, and he's probably never been so successful. Five Kent top-order men went for single-figure scores as Snow's figures at one point were 5-2-15-6 - and Kent slipped to 36 for 5 and 84 for 8. However, they recovered to 138, and after Kent's bowlers had set South Australia in a similar pickle with 72 for 6, things looked interesting. However, Khan Rangnekar wanted to impress his old manager Mørk, and with a blitz of a 54 before being stumped off Butt, the Redbacks made 209 in 56 overs - a target of 339 to win for Kent. Snow again ripped through Kent, with a little help from Arjen Robben, but this time it was the lower order that gave him the stunning 7/73, ending with match figures of 13/110 - the best match figures of the entire WCC league.

Mørk commented after the match that "it was a professional effort - I really felt any team could win it in the first two days, but after Rangnekar and Adam carried us past 200 in the second dig I felt fairly confident. I know we've got good bowlers, I'm just waiting for someone else to fire - and for someone to score runs. But yes, we've got a good feeling in the squad now and we're confident that Surrey will be utterly trounced when we travel there."

When asked whether he still thought South Australia had the chance, Mørk replied that it would be "difficult, as Anderson and Robben would have to take responsibility on their pitch. We've got two key games against Surrey and Lancashire, if we win those anything could still happen, because Tamil Nadu aren't unbeatable and losing all the time in one-day has got to get to them.

Division 1 table:

Tamil Nadu 45pts (3-0)
Lancashire 34pts (2-1)
South Australia 26pts (1-1-1)
Queensland 25pts (1-1-1)
Kent 18pts (1-2)
Surrey 6pts (0-3)
