It's a shame we were eliminated before the semi-finals, but SA keep finding a way to win, so fair play.

If you look at the big picture, we have gone from 9th in the rankings and not qualifying for the previous World Cup to 3rd and narrowly missing out on the semi-finals within a short space of time. So, ultimately, we can be pleased with the progress under Darren Sammy and Rovman Powell. You can see the public getting behind them as well, which is great.

There are specific things to fix before we can win a World Cup again IMHO.
  1. Seam bowling: It's too erratic. Obed should have played sooner, Romario is too unreliable. We could do with pace to accompany Alzarri also (lets give Shamar a run after the World Cup).
  2. Opening batsmen: Charles was awful and is now old, so must go after this. King is ok. Hope did well against the USA, but we really haven't cracked that partnership yet.
  3. Batting against big sides when under pressure: Our batting didn't perform against NZ, England, or South Africa. The main issue was a buildup of dot balls against high-quality spin, which has held us back for years now.
At least there are clear things we need to work on. Our T20 side is very clearly heading in the right direction under Sammy. Long may it continue.

You'll see. Teams like Afg can beat top nations now and then but can crumble just as easily like they did vs the Windies losing by around 100 runs or to India by around 50 runs. Their batting is pretty light tbh, heavily reliant on the openers. It'd be roughly 70-30 in SA's favor so one foot in the final is fair.

I've moved on from our team's exit from the World Cup. The superior team triumphed. We possessed the elements to build a championship squad, but a good manager is needed to assemble those pieces correctly. The keeper we had should have been in the outfield, while the more experienced one should have been behind the stumps.

Repetition in this game can often be detrimental. Akeal consistently bowling in the Powerplay every single game. Chase excels with the new ball. The gap in the batting lineup calls for significant introspection. These players are talented; they must comprehend their responsibilities and, crucially, learn to navigate challenges and perform beyond their comfort zones when necessary. And let's not begin to address the debacle of our dot ball percentage.

We've got the ingredients for success, but it seems this tournament wasn't the right recipe for us.

On to the England tests!!!

Excellent summary. Felt like a tournament too soon. We might have won if we had won the toss against England and South Africa and chased, but I think we would have come unstuck either way with those flaws.

We need to see young players getting opportunities within CPL now. For a start we need to replace Dre Russ and Charles. Someone like Joshua James should be the ideal replacement, but he needs the chance to demonstrate what he can do

The nature of the game dictates that, regardless of the toss, a stronger application is required once put into play. It's unsurprising that we would prefer to bowl first as well. This mentality is indicative of defeatism and reveals a lack of resilience.

The young players emerging from the age-groups and the academy show promise. It's crucial to shape them effectively so they become consummate professionals ready to advance when the opportunity arises.

The treasure hunt is on! We're off to Berbice in Guyana to strike it rich with gold. Ahoy, mateys!
