Marnus and Steve Smith

Jayro

U19 12th Man
When they were batting against WI in recent series their combined batting average was more than 120 runs I guess, when did two players with more combined batting average batted together last time?

Edit- to make it more interesting they should both have had at least 25 tests under their belts as eligibility.

Probably when Voges was averaging in the 90s and batting with Smith.

Would have to be Bradman and someone, he only has to be batting with someone averaging more than 20 to beat 120

Mike Hussey was averaging 80s for a while early in his career and he would have batted with Ponting averaging nearly 60 at the time

edit: Huss was averaging over 70 after 25 Tests & Ponting was averaging ~58 at the time. That beats 120

It was the way they lost, I think.
Would take that over what we have now honestly. Wi were only really crushed in the 4th test where Hayden made a hundred where he was dropped at least 5 times and Ambrose missed through injury. Make no mistake, Australia were the better team and deserved the win but the gulf then between the two teams, isn't as big as it is now.

Whatever it takes!!!
Oh the bowling was still great but the batting let you down big time that series. Campbell, Adams were brought down to earth big time.

And fcking Lara. McGrath really had his number honestly. Pity Rchie couldn't have played one more series down under. Richie til then had an excellent record in Australia. I believe the man was just under so much stress from the WC exit that he just was over cricket at that point. But imagine if wi went to Australia in ' 96 with:

Haynes
Campbell
Lara
Richardson
Chanderpaul
Adams
Murray+
**Bishop
Ambrose
Benjamin
Walsh

**An injury free Bishop. Actually, forget that, had the above team played the '95 series in carribean no way do we lose.

Ponsford / Morris
Woodfull/Jackson / Barnes
Bradman

is better surely
All 3 of those pairings being relatively short lived sadly.

Hobbs(44)/Sutcliffe(74)/Hammond(79) 1928-1930 11 matches (3191@65.12, 11 centuries) - brought down somewhat by Hobbs being in his twilight

Woodfull(49)/Ponsford(54)/Bradman(99) 1928-1934 20 matches (5667@68.28, 18 centuries) - also had McCabe in 19 of those matches averaging 40 with 1 ton

Morris(65)/Barnes(70)/Bradman(99) 1946-48 10 matches
(3214@78.39, 13 centuries) - also had Hassett in every game averaging 67 with 3 tons
