It’s closer nowSurprised at this poll – I guess Pujara is somewhat comfortably above M Waugh, but I've never thought of it like that and expected a landslide the other way. Need some bigoted Australians to wake up.
8–0 to 10–8. Sunrise over the Tasman really does have a profound effect. It’s closer now
Pujara had a bottom hand heavy grip and a technique that saw his hands pretty low even when playing short deliveries. It literally meant that the ball would impact his bat pretty high up. Heh.Mark Waugh was a high impact bat.
I don't think so. I've seen him play some gritty knocks where he struggled for most part but worked hard and ground out a score. It's in ODIs that he makes everything look easy IMO.the way Waugh Jnr bats, all his runs will look like soft ones.
@trundlerPujara would have averaged 50 in the 2000s. His decline coinciding with a very tough era exacerbated his weaknesses.
Wasn't having a go at you, I basically agree. I just like to tag trundler whenever someone uses the word weakness ever since he somehow successfully trolled NZers with the most obviously rancid bait ever.I think so. He was born to bat in the 2000s. His attritional methods against pace don't work as well against deep attacks which was much less of a problem back then. India also played on flat pitches a lot which he will grind to death on. Much easier home conditions where he was a beast even on turners before his decline. In an era that lacks lateral movement and deep pace attacks, it would be hard work getting Pujara out.
How about Waugh? He retired just as the batting party started.Pujara would have averaged 50 in the 2000s. His decline coinciding with a very tough era exacerbated his weaknesses.
I think he had the skill to average 50. Less convinced he had the discipline. Mid-40s easily though. How about Waugh? He retired just as the batting party started.
