Mark Waugh > Pujara in most facets of the game. Don't just look at tough runs because the way Pujara bats, all his runs will look like tough ones and the way Waugh Jnr bats, all his runs will look like soft ones. Waugh also a good 6th bowler.

Mark Waugh isn't an ATVG. He fluctuated between good and very good.

Pujara isn't unarguably one either, though I guess he is better in this comparison.

Gatekeeping the ATVG title is hilarious but I kind of agree anyway.

Pujara clearly better than Waugh though.

Surely this is where you say, when everything else is thereabouts, aesthetics matters. Waugh overshadowed by a stacked batting line up making people underate his value to that team.

I don't think so. I've seen him play some gritty knocks where he struggled for most part but worked hard and ground out a score. It's in ODIs that he makes everything look easy IMO.

I think so. He was born to bat in the 2000s. His attritional methods against pace don't work as well against deep attacks which was much less of a problem back then. India also played on flat pitches a lot which he will grind to death on. Much easier home conditions where he was a beast even on turners before his decline. In an era that lacks lateral movement and deep pace attacks, it would be hard work getting Pujara out.

Wasn't having a go at you, I basically agree. I just like to tag trundler whenever someone uses the word weakness ever since he somehow successfully trolled NZers with the most obviously rancid bait ever.
