Has to be Shakib or Williamson. No other possibilities exist at this stage unless they want to stupidly give it to an undeserving English player (England has had some good players this world cup but nobody stands out particularly).

Agree, England is a team effort. Just a bloody good all round side.

Root has about the same amount of runs as Kane hasn't he? Could probably make an argument for either of those two, or even Bairstow, if they make match winning scores in the final (though the actual award doesn't factor the final match into the equation). Not sure bowlers can do enough to go above Starc in the bowlers pecking order however

Ah yeah I completely forgot about half the English team. Must be the stroke after watching Handscomb's innings.

Like TJB said, just a joke. But on seeing this conversation, I just got reminded of BGT which I was watching yesterday and wondering if they should change the name to World's got talent.

I've said this a few times though, if your representative team is multicultural, with people born in other nations from across the world then it's probably because you have a nice set up and people want to move there. In which case you deserve to have those people represent you

There are actually some performers out there that make appearances on 'Got Talent' shows all around the world. I remember seeing a few YouTube compilations of this, and some guys even post up all their 'Got Talent' appearances on their personal social media. One day it's BGT, next day it's Germany, and then they go off to Lithuania or something like that.

It's not strictly only British people on that show I reckon.

This is a pretty simplistic view of the matter imo

I've made it clear multiple times in other threads but yeah basically I think it's a tough ask to expect poorer, less stable countries to produce the AAA cricketing infrastructure of an England or Australia

Sure but they chose to go to England for whatever reason, whether it's because England provides a better standard of living for them and their family, or better earning prospects for their profession, rather than another country. So surely England get the credit for providing that and have earned their loyalty.

Yeah I guess that's true I'm just peeved at the whole Jofra thing. I'd rather cricket resemble the NRL (with salary caps) rather than the EPL(only a fraction of the teams are a chance at winning)

Not advocating anything resembling a salary limit but west indies cricket really could have used a potential superstar bowler of Jofra's calibre.

The only issue I have with it, specifically in Jofra's case, is that he was rushed in and took a spot that could have gone to someone who had committed their whole career to playing for England. But that's a minor nitpick

For me it's not about stay where yer from or anything like that I just think this could set a bad precedent of more potential ATGs flocking to 2 or 3 nations

Cricket doesn't necessarily need a strong west indies but it does need plenty of competitive teams. I just want the game to get bigger and bigger

Yeah Tommy Curran must feel a little bittersweet atm. I watched him and Archer extensively during the BBL and came to the conclusion there's not a lot separating them as quality bowlers, though they obviously offer different things
