He's actually kept really, really well this summer, much improved in that department - he's certainly got Wade covered for glove work.
Destructive bat at his best - was man of the match in an ODI he played. Good pick-up for NZ, even of he only adds depth, but if he can get his head right (which it looks like he is in the process of this summer), he's got a real x-factor.

Difference is that Ronchi is at least a domestic regular and has played for Australia.

He's the type of guy who could go over there and never make a run, or go absolutely nuts and demand selection. He's just a horrible starter, but when he does get going he can be nigh on impossible to stop.

He'd be 4th in-line in the Australian keeping pecking order, let alone the NZ one....
If he converts, he'll make his ODI debut for black caps for sure, he's one of the most destructive batsman in limited overs cricket in domestic cricket in Australia.......

He's also scored something like 18 ducks in his first 55 innings in OD cricket.
McGlashan will go to Wellington before Watling does.

Wow, he's almost 31. No chance imo unless he totally dominates domestic, which I again doubt.

I wonder whether he would've done this a couple of years back had he not played those ODIs for Australia which disqualified him until January 2013.
As I've said before I don't really like international cricketers playing for anything other than their 'first choice' nation as I feel it compromises the integrity of what representative cricket is actually about, but his career has really stagnated a bit so this will give him a new challenge; could be interesting. As Jack alluded to it's hard to guess how this will pan out; I wouldn't be surprised if he was a massive flop and ended up playing park cricket (and he's done he's fair share of that in the last couple of Australian summers..) but I wouldn't be surprised if he absolutely killed it either. A hard player to read in a lot of ways.

I do reckon he's got as much of a chance as anyone of getting time for NZ. The Keeping spot has been a real problem for us as there's a massive gulf between McCullum and the next in line. If he hits form he's gonna get a call up. Big if, given his lack of knowledge of Kiwi wickets etc. but I reckon they'd go to him ahead of a backwards step to Hopkins, Young or McGlashan.

Must say I've always like Ronchi, and thought him a player who could have achieved quite a lot, especially in LO games, at the highest level. He's had his ups and downs as a player, of course, but he's also been unfortunate that his career has coincided with Gilchrist and Haddin.
