Hmm, I look at it as that I try to avoid wasting the health work I do do by not doing it on other occasions. I don't fuss over every bar on the NI packet (about the only thing I ever check foods for with proper attention is whether they're SFV) or anything, but I generally know what's overtly fattening and what isn't and avoid such things where possible. That includes drinks.Tbh I really don't pay attention to the calory information, I lead a healthy lifestyle, so drinking pretty much whatever I want on the odd occasion isn't going to do me a great deal of damage.
Drink the odd spirit neat (Southern Comfort, Sambuca). Well, more often on-the-rocks TBH, but I do that only rarely. I don't like whisky at all, and don't like most spirits without mixers of some sort. Be it orange-juice, RedBull, lemonade, whatever. Can't stand JD myself, prefer other types of whisky. Though again I would drink them straight, because the last thing I would want to do with a bottle of 12 year old scotch downstairs is ruin the taste of it by pouring vast amounts of coke into it. Is pretty much why on the rare occasions I actually bother with spirits I will near enough always have them un-mixed. Though obviously there is stuff like Gin which near enough has to be mixed with something to make it drinkable.
And obviously some things go with others and not with others - you'd never, ever want to drink gin and RedBull for instance, but gin and orange is very pleasant.
