Was at my mate's grandparent's place the other day (they were out of town), and there was a Logie on the shelf; turns out his grandmother was a long-term producer of Play School. I also got to hold the Big Ted that was used up till a year or so ago. Was amazing tstl.

Need to use the soundtest function to get the decent cheats tbh.
Up down left right A start is the way to get the soundtest screen ITBT. You get the level-select by doing that, and the soundtest is part of the level select. On Sonic 2 the soundtest was a standard part of the game.

In any case, there aren't really any decent cheats on Sonic 1. You can't even get Supersonic on that game.

Yeah true, problem with SOnic 3 I found was that once you had unlocked Super Sonic or indeed Hyper Sonic on the Sonic and Knuckles add on the game became far too easy. Whereas with Sonic Two it was a herculean task to unlock Super Sonic without cheats, I don't think I ever managed it.

Really? I a) couldn't find the Supersonic cheat on S&K\S3, and could do it easily on S2; and b) could get Supersonic by midway through the opening Zone on S2 and not until Zone 3 on S3. And of course on S3&K you get both Supersonic and, better still, Hypersonic (plus Superknuckles and Hyperknuckles when you play as the echidna). So S3&K has retained the air of mystery and brilliance, whereas S2 is almost more boring with the cheats than without. At least that way you have the challenge of not running-out of time before getting all the Chaos.

BTW I'm trying to find the words to describe this girl without being disrespectfulllllllllllllll.

Sonic 2 the best in series for mine by a fair stretch, I find that one as the most air of mystery to be honest, and find that without cheats that is undoubtedly the most challenging one in the series. Sonic 3 though great, and with plenty of hidden stuff, was pretty straightforward I thought, esspecially with the built in save function.

Haha, well you see, the save function failed on my cartridge, so I've never know what it's like. It's either in-all or not at all.

It got pretty quickly to a stage where I had to find new challenges in Sonic 2 - like getting the perfect bonuses for every one of the first six acts (it's impossible on Carnival Night). I found it pretty easy to complete most of the acts - admittedly the Death Egg boss is difficult with no rings.

BTW disappointed you chose not to comment on my drunken David Guetta - Akon reference.

I'm not a fan of Akon, nor particularly knowledgeable on him, so the reference went over my head I'm afraid.

But yes, fair enough, completing Sonic 3 & Knuckles without a save would be quite the feat, my hat comes off to you for that. The Sandopolis level has to be the most difficult out of any of the megadrive series.
