I just subtracted the innings where Constantine faced Hammond lol, I did that and Hammond's average became 62.
That should do. I don't get why Hammond struggled against Constantine tbh, given that he averaged 47 in the matches involving Larwood iirc.

Constantine was a very good bowler, 85-86 mph per Cambridge but also could mix things up and was versatile, his test stats undervalue his capability imo, he led Windies to multiple wins over England in his short international career and averaged 20 in First Class cricket, there's also a sense of animosity between Hammond and Constantine so that probably had a psychological effect too.

Constantine really said "**** that guy in Particular."

Learie Constantine was one such player, and wrote about this himself; he claimed that the pair had an ongoing feud on the field which arose from Hammond’s attitude towards him when the pair met during the 1926 MCC tour. Constantine believed that Hammond snubbed him owing to racism, having been friendly enough when they met during the West Indies’ 1923 tour. The result was a series of onfield encounters punctuated by hostility and short-pitched bowling. By Constantine’s own account, this ended when the pair shook hands during the second Test of the 1933 series in England; therefore the “feud” cannot have lasted long as they only faced each other in 1926 and during the 1928 tour of England.

So Hammond was racist for a period of time in the late 20’s. Good thing he started out non racist and finished non racist.

From what I've read, Hammond was a bit of a **** so maybe Constantine took Hammond's rudeness as a resultant of racism instead of natural narcissism

Yeah lol I wasn’t being serious. Obviously a **** ton of negative interactions back then were based on race sadly but I’ve never heard any mention of Hammond being remotely like that.
