Who is the better test and odi spinner?

Imran said "Qadir's bowling statistics do not do justice to his genius" (source Abdul Qadir Wikipedia).

There is stats not doing justice and then there is Qadir's away record..... Not a contest really, no matter how low you think of Kumble
Is Qadir's stats really doing injustice? Or is he just the most overrated bowler ever? Away average of 47 is undefendable imo.

He himself and Imran defended it with that away umpires didn't understood how much his ball was going to turn and didn't gave him many lbws...... And frankly, that's one of the worst "It's not my fault, it's others" defence I have ever seen.

Everyone rated Qadir very highly. Here Richie Benaud picks Abdul Qadir ahead of the likes of Jim Laker or murali in Richie Benaud's fantastic XI
Made CMJ's top 100 cricketers of all time (incidentally even finished above his opponent in this poll). English media liked him because he was a rare decent spin bowler in a bouncer-heavy era which wasn't so popular with the English media because England had to play WI a lot and didn't have the tools to dish out the same.

Abdul is one of my favourites from Pakistan. Mercurially exciting bowler and fun eccentric character. Pity he just couldn't figure out overseas tracks.

Definitely a case of Imran bigging up his players to get the best out of them, also managed to sell them to the western media to some extent. He had a habit of doing that for those he thought were talented. Abdul Qadir, Wasim, Waqar, Inzy (claiming him to be better than Sachin) and of course, Mohammad Sami (claiming Sami to have all the tools that Malcom Marshall possessed). Sami probably possessed all the tools except the brain of Marshall. Off the field he was the one who promoted Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (a famous singer from pakistan who had a unique blend of fusion music) etc. So yeah, can't take every thing Imran said at face value, even though some of the talents he bigged up did end up producing the goods. I am surprised at how high some of the Aussies rated Qadir.

Nothing wrong with that; he's an excellent listen.
