Well he's been clearly better than the alternatives, as is evident by the fact that he's not even been the worst opener in the side.

KLR has played 50+ tests with a 34 avg as well, and he plays for a much better batting unit

Latham first , Kraigg Brathwaite is a Test specialist..Probably one of the few cricketers in the world who have never played a single T20 even in domestic cricket, he will hold onto his place till he is forced to retire I reckon , Test cricket is all he has to earn decently.

Don't think either of these two will miss a Test between now and then (unless something like their missus is about to give birth before a match) so it just depends on who gets the games in quicker.
