Which team wins a 5 test match series in India, assuming two pitches are rank turners, two pitches are traditional mostly solid mild turners, and one pitch is a pure batting wicket.

Kohli's India wins 4-1 at worst tbh. They'll get easier runs from Harbhajan/Agarkar/Sreesanth and overworked Zaheer, and have the deeper batting without losing bowling depth.

If there wasn't Bumrah, I'd gone with Ganguly's team for their vastly superior batting. On rank turners they would still have a pretty good chance imo, if any one of Sehwag or Sachin could go big, it might be enough.

Sehwag have to survive initial Bumrah and Shami though. And then on rank turner, Ashwin and Jadeja are legit terrifying for any batsman ever. Will be a Great battle though.

Yeah but on a rank turner, Shami and Bumrah won't bowl much. I would actually send Dravid to open just to play them out. And then as we've seen, bang average bowlers can look great on rank turners, and Kumble is far from that.
On rank turners I feel, it will come down to that 1 big innings from either side, and I feel Sehwag, Tendulkar or Laxman have a higher chance of doing that.

Kumble on a rank turner will be worse than Ashwin and Jadeja to face.

I don't think Kumble would be worse than those 2 to face. I do think that Tendulkar and co would do a better job of facing them, than Kohli and co would do of facing Kumble-Harbi though.

Consider the fact that Kumble will have DRS now and bowls accurately at more pace than Ashwin Jadeja mostly towards the pads on a cracked surface and you may understand why I made that comment.

It will be a complete hell for Kohli bats who can't pad him away like the 90s but will be in even more danger if stuck in the crease not knowing where the ball will end up.

Yeah I understand the logic, but Jaddu is the one I feel who will trouble the batsman the most. He has the higher pace and flatter trajectory of a Kumble, whilst maintaining just enough turn to beat the bat. Predicting which ones go straight and which ones turn is a nightmare. Just ask the English batsmen.

Even if you talk about 00 aus or 80s wi , at max they can win 1 or 2 matches in a 5 match test series against prime aswin and Jadeja.

WI will win if they get the batting of Kalicharan, Richards and Lloyd.
