Kieron Pollard given WICB central contract for 2010/11

Whether Gayle parties or not is neither here nor there, IMHO, because there's no Test cricket going on right now, so he can party as much as he wants....

I'm not convinced by Baugh either, but I agree with Beamer - I suppose he needs one final run to see if he can prove us doubters wrong.

To be honest, I really don't see anything wrong with the contracts. Basically, they say that WI cricket has to come first. It is also unlikely that the WICB will accept another half-baked early tour of England that will clash with the IPL, and they are doing their best to ensure that home series don't clash with the IPL either. The issues seem to surround playing 20/20 cricket for Australian states and English counties, which apparently this trio want to do....
Even during cricket season i've heard reports of them like that as well.

Your mother's a Trini? So, the WI must be your second team, then?
You should also know, then, since you have Caribbean roots, that partying is a part of the WI lifestyle, and if you're going to criticise Gayle for partying too much, then the same can be said for practically every WI player, except maybe Nash and Shiv....

Even the great, highly-disciplined teams of Lloyd and Richards had players who partied hard. The difference is that when it came to the crunch, and Dennis Waight put the players thru their paces, the players under Lloyd and Richards put in the hard work.

Shiv and Nash aside, these players just don't have that level of self-discipline, IMHO.

So, I'm not bothered by reports as to whether Gayle has a party in Guyana or not. The problem, to me, is far more serious than that. It's got to do with commitment to the team, following Otis Gibson's programme of getting fit, etc.

I believe England is actually his second team behind Australia, even though he's an Englishman. He's an odd duck; not that I can talk given I'm basically the exact opposite of that.

Ha sorry, no supporting of the Windies team. But by defualt i would be regularly updated about current WI cricket affairs, given the cricket crazy windies fam connection here in ENG & back in the WI.

As you correctly highlighted in the bolded, unlike the glory days under Dennis Waight - that same level of hard-work has been lacking in the current bunch for the last decade or more. Plus also you said the commitment to current WI affairs by senior players like Gayle, Bravo, Pollard, Sarwan especially is a bit questionable ATM.
