Other English batsmen in away tests involving Barrington:

14920 @ 35.44

Barrington away:

3459 @ 69.18
Magic.

Subtract Barrington’s runs, innings and not outs and recalculate manually. (Using the batting tab and listing by overall aggregate rather than using the overall aggregate makes sure it only lists the actual runs the batsmen themselves scored, rather than including extras in the tally)
Charitable definition of "batsmen" though. If you just limit it to the top six instead of including the tail it jumps to 40.85. He was still way above replacement value but when the rest of the top order combined is averaging 41 you're not playing in the hardest conditions or circumstances.

I mean I guess but everyone has to bat. Its not like we exclude stats of part time bowlers when looking at team’s bowling average/performance.

Not that it makes any difference to the point here ofc.

Plus if you restrict Barrinngton’s to only 1-6 spots his average jumps up a point too :p
