I'm inclined to agree. That's not to say he'll be better than Crowe, but he should hopefully play more matches.

He's definitely got the required natural talent but then I'd say Ross Taylor is a more naturally gifted player, I think Kane is more driven and hopefully retains that drive throughout.

Neither of them have anywhere near the talent that Jesse Ryder does though.

Of the players on that list still playing, McCullum would probably get to 10, Vettori to about 8, while Ryder, Taylor and Williamson should all get to at least second on that list depending on injuries.

You're views on Kane were a little cringe-worthy but I gave you the benefit of the doubt that you sort of knew what you were talking about, but got a few facts wrong. However that other argument makes it clear to me that you're just adamant that whatever you think is correct, even in the face of blatantly more logical arguments.

And I can assure you, I'm not alone.

I think Kane will definitely reach at least number 2 on that list from what i've seen, but as mentioned that could be 3 or even 4 depending on Ryder/Taylor ( T MAC:ph34r:)

Vettori only needs two more centuries to be 5th-equal of all time with Glenn Turner, that's how few good batsmen we've ever had. Early stages, but Ryder has the best record of them all so far, comfortably. (apart from Dempster who played ten tests in the 30s)

That is rather depressing :laugh: but i have a feeling that Taylor, Ryder, Williamson, McCullum will all end up in or around an NZ all time eleven by the time their careers are over.

McCullum's chances of making an all-time XI could be an interesting topic for discussion. If he'd been able to carry on keeping in Tests, he would have cruised in. But I guess now he'd have to be considered as a specialist batsman.

Quite an impressive list. I'm a Williamson stan but where to from here? He needs another 10 100's to catch Martin Crowe and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he caught him in his mid to late 20's.

I don't think it's picking holes to say he has a weakness against quality pace bowling.

If he improves that he'll be one of the best in the world.

Since his improvement the teams with good pace bowling (of varying degree) he's faced are South Africa in their backyeard, England home and away and the tour just gone.

Can't complain about the series just gone, he was okay against England and almost had a ton in Hamilton, and against South Africa he was awful.

Still, he's 23 and has the technique and head on his shoulders to be as good against pace as he is against spin. It's been a while since we've seen that back foot prod. Hopefully it's mostly gone (a guy who loves to punch off the back foot will never get rid of it entirely).

Picking holes was the wrong phrase, more so that we have a beauty that has definite parts of his game to improve but is the #3 we've been screaming out for, and has a long and hopefully illustrious career ahead. Happy days.

Nah, I'm a Henry fan but not to the same extent as with KW. I think part of the extremely OTT KW love began as an ironic overreaction to discovering the tumblr, but I just ran with it because I was a fanboi before that anyway.
