he has an infinitely better home record though, and bats #3 vs #5, I go with De Villers because I believe he is somewhat a more skillfull player than Williamson and more complete but I don't think stats are in favour of AB here.
No stats aren't. And he is Great at home. But his away record is a bit too shabby personally.

I go with De Villers because I think he is more well rounded too but personally won't blame anyone for picking Williamson for his home record, 67 vs 47 at home is a huge gap, just think even at home Kanos has a tendency to go missing against great attacks. other than South Africa. De Villiers on the other hand shined against tough attacks in tough conditions, consistently.

Genius I think is better when used for someone who managed to overachieve given their talents, or invent something in Cricket, ABD is just a freak.

ABD for me. Find Williamson hard to rate for his poor away record vs top 5 teams and home record vs Australia which is again of higher value for a NZ batsman than against any other team.

Is there any way to easily see at what point in an innings that a player started their innings? Williamson has often been a pseudo-opener given the high propensity of New Zealand openers to failure. I cbf to go through all the scorecards individually; perhaps this data is held in a table somewhere. I can't see how you can access it in StatsGuru.

I don't know an easier way than checking Kane's record vs 1st wicket partnerships in NZ's innings for game's involving him.

On average Kane enters at 3 when NZ have 35 runs on the board after 12+ overs
He has also been brought in 41 times before the 3rd over
79 times before the 7th over
102 times before the 10th over.

Only 36 of his innings at 3 have begun after 20+ overs and 16 innings after 30.

The median Kane #3 innings begins at 19/1 after 7.1 overs

Villiers has 3 runs difference between away and home. That is because SA is difficult to bat as it is the most bowling friendly place. So if Villiers played for NZ he would average more

The average for opposition #3s in NZ is 31.51 in matches involving Williamson
The average for opposition #5s in SA is 32.48 in matches involving AB de Villiers
