One thing I have never understood , how can a team be so good in 4th innings of Test while chasing (Perth, Adelaide, SL 2014, Durban 2013) while simultaneously be such a choker in limited overs format. You can’t be mentally strong in one format and mentally weak in another.

South Africa choking an ICC event has become a part of CSA psyche. Generations of South African players grow up with this guilt that they can never get the job done at an ICC event and it weighs them down. I can't think of any reason why a QDK or Rabada would continue to under perform at a world cup setting .

South African batsmen who have played in ODI or T20 WC finals:

Allan Lamb
Kevin Pietersen
Craig Kieswetter
Michael Lumb
Grant Elliott
Jason Roy

*Devon Conway would've played in the 2021 WT20 final, but broke his hand on his bat in the semi.

So the only ICC final SA have played (and won) was actually made an ICC event was given ICC title/status post the event. It was played as Wills International Cup. So SA have never played a final of a tournament that started out as an ICC event. Incredible.

Incidentally, Kallis was the player of the series in the 1998 ICC Champions trophy Wills International Cup and got multiple player of the match awards. Here is an example of one excellent knock he played:

Guys here keep saying his batting always lost ODI games, smh. Kallis was a pretty good ODI player.

He struck only at 113 while even randoms like Boje and Symcox struck their runs in excess of 120 strike rate. Waste player.

Also, Benkenstein there is another weird player who almost always batted at 6/7/8/9 and not bowling. We see those types in associate nations like Kenya and UAE but rare in a major nation.
