FTR it's asinine to compare fast bowlers with spinners. They both have two completely different roles in their teams.

Anyway, dont want to derail the thread. Just wanted to make a point that having better stats dont constitute greatness.

Really, I rate Warne as an ATG. Pollock is really good but not to the level of Warne. surely you guys dont rate them on the same level.:-O
That's because Warne's a spinner and their's only him and Murali who have had as much success as spinners. Not the same case with fast bowlers again apples and oranges.

Bigger question though is what prevents us from considering him a greater CRICKETER than a Tendulkar or a Lara? More I think about it, more I feel Kallis is a bloody superhuman. He is a pretty handy batsman AND bowler in any format that's thrown at him. Why no one gives him his due, myself included? Posterity will look at him with amazement.
Abso-****ing-lutely. More than 11,000 runs, 250 wickets and 100 catches in both Tests AND ODIs, not to mention more Test MoM awards than any other player. It's nothing short of phenomenal. I think it was Uppercut who said something to the effect that in fifty years people will be looking back at Kallis' numbers and wondering just how it was possible for someone to be that good.

I guess one thing that props up with Kallis the batsman is that he doesn't have that one or two signature knock guys like Lara, Dravid, Tendulkar have I suppose. You know the sort that makes everyone look up in amazement..... But Kallis the better cricket overall by a margin.

I reckon the likes of Tendulkar, Lara, Lillee and McGrath are considerably inferior cricketers to Kallis.

As for the thread question, Kallis as a batsman by a small margin.

Had a busted rib at the time too. The Kallisball Test.

WAG.
Yeah, that's why it's even more special.

So many memorable performances in that match - Tendulkar (personally think it's his best performance in SA, marginally), Harbhajan, Steyn, Gambhir and even the Kerala coconut-seller.

But yeah, even then I have no issues with it being called the Kallisball test.

There are quite a few comparison threads in CW that are quality threads. Probably because you are new to the forum, you think these are like some of youtube comments sections.

...depends on which way you are taking the discussion...
