I watched his innings against Sri Lanka earlier this year (the century at Lord's) and this was my response at the time:
Wonderful stroke-maker and somebody who I feel could become a marquee player for England in the future, particularly in LOIs.That was a quality, back-to-the-wall century by Jos Buttler.
From 111/5 in 28.2 overs to 292/8 after 49.4 overs, he carried the innings together excellently after the drought of boundaries from the middle-order pairing of Gary Ballance and Joe Root.
Some fabulously clean hitting - akin to even De Villiers's brutal innings of 74 against Pakistan in the second ODI at Port Elizabeth.
It's such a shame that it ultimately came in vain.
