This is true. TBH Garner was seen as less than Marshall, Holding and even Roberts till the 2000s.

Why do you keep thinking Marshall was rated pre-1984?

Marshall was nothing special in Lillee's era. Up until 1983 Marshall had only played 12 tests in 4 years and was more of a fill-in bowler when someone was injured. He took 34 wkts @ 31.88 in those 12 tests (2.8 wpm)

No Roberts was first. Marshall hadn't come up yet at the time of the book.
