The difference in quality between Bumrah and someone like Marshall or Mcgrath, if any, is miniscule. Comparing Anderson with Steyn is more like comparing Broad with Holding or Donald

While this is good, it's not quite great level either (especially for someone's peak)
The away avgs (combined with WPM) are quite poor in the 3 biggest challenges in AUS, IND and SA. Does quite poorly at home vs NZ and especially AUS too. The avg is padded up against relatively weaker batting line ups of Pak, SL and WI.
Also, more than half of this period is in the bowling friendly era, Steyn's whole career was in a flatter era.

Sl is weak? They have 3-5 batsman with 40-45 AVG.

His career average dropped from 34+ to 26 , shows how much he has improved and Steyn was also poor in aus and Eng,
But longevity is the Main reason, why he is better than Steyn.
