What was special about the first cricket game in Afghanistan?
Thats correct . It was in Afghanistan . A country that has gone through tumultuous times and which no doubt lead to our departed Mate Fardin's family to move from Afghanistan to United States.

As an individual from a country with not too dissimilar turmoil (Sri Lanka) the thousands of innocent lives that have been lost in these 2 countries is shocking and the trauma continues for some even after moving to other countries , as it has happened for our dear mate Fardin and his family .

May he rest in peace.

My apologies folks.

I left for Shanghai and completely forgot about this. Now posting from Shanghai.

VERY VERY VERY sorry.

It was a very good one actually. 9 not out is the lowest score in a first class innings by a batsman who opened the innings and carried his bat right through the innings.

I dont have the details here in Shanghai. Will post as soon as i get back.

No, SJS. The record is Di-ck Barlow's incredible 5* out of 69.

The Indian record is N Bezbarua's 8*.

Parsis established a cricket club in Shanghai in 1890. Any idea whether it is still there ? (the name should be in the telephone directory if it is still around).

PS : Sometime last year you had promised to write about Ramesh Divecha. Still waiting for it 8-)

As for the "Buck" Divecha srticle. I guess it has to wait a bit longer.

PS: Last year wasnt as long back as it sounds :)

PPS : The telephone directory in my room is in Chinese. Let me see if i can find something. Any idea what the club was called.
