Jadeja's more impactful as a bowler than Miandad is a batter, and then batting-wise he's also 2/3 of what Miandad is.
Literally none of that is true. Miandad is a top 20 batsman of all time and Jadeja is more impactful as a bowler??? Really? And no, he's no where 2rd's of what he was as a batsman either.

Bowlers better than batters.

This Jadeja love is a symptom of a bigger virus on CW I have been fighting against.

It’s just recency bias tbf. Guys like Jadeja,Ashwin and Root probably will be rated more accurately at the end of their careers after they decline a bit.
Maybe. I worry it will get worse because as time goes by, people forget the actual players when they play and just do blind stat reading.

Current Indian team has one of the most dominant home records of all time, if not the most and it is all purely due to Ashwin and Jadeja. Unless one turns a blind eye, one can clearly see that other boards are preparing zero spinning pitches purely to negate them. So, once they retire, they will only be under-rated based on their away record which will be seen without context.

Is this really the case? I feel it was tougher for spinners in these countries a decade ago than now. And why would they prepare such pitches even in series not involving India.

It would be pretty funny if people start putting Jadeja into their all time teams after he’s retired

Hobbs
Hutton
Bradman
Sachin
Viv
Sobers
Gilchrist
Jadeja
Imran
Marshall
McGrath

Jumno

First Class Debutant
Miandad. Played some clutch knocks and averaged 50 with the bat.

I will say I was very impressed by Jadeja’s innings today. He has all the tools to go nuts but when the other Indian batsmen lost their minds he played within himself to bat England out of the game. Can see him end his career with 9/10 centuries and 300 wickets which would make him a premiere all rounder. Still not better than Miandad who was a top 5 bat for 15 years.

Jadeja getting so many centuries looks very unlikely. Presently he has only 3 centuries and even converts this one; it would likely take him another 3-4 years to get so many centuries. Considering he already has 275 wickets, I think him getting 350 wickets is probably more likely.

Yes? Check the records of the spinners overall. Most teams rely more on pace so why should they make spinning wickets?

Anyway Miandad is being highly overrated for a bat, as a player Jadeja has more impact anyway on both sides of the ball. Clearly the usual suspects aren't that interested in watching cricket though.

So by this argument Jadeja is greater than Smith, Tendulkar, Richards, Lara, heck, every batsman bar Bradman. Not to add McGrath, Marshall, Warne, Murali?

I just can't.
