James Anderson Top 11 team

GIMH

Norwood's on Fire
Tbf Anderson didn’t bowl to Smith in the 2019 Ashes and the 17-18 series doesn’t count. Neither does 21-22.

Smith was a joke in 10-11, average in 13 and 13-14, and his best display in 15 came when Anderson was out injured. He was average again in 2023. So really it’s fair enough and a FACT that Smith was average against Anderson. Thanks for your time

Smith averages 59.9 against Anderson. It goes up to 87.6 if you remove the 10/11 ashes when Smith wasn’t a good player.

Is that right?

Not a fan of that particular trait.
Oh absolutely.

Jimmy is so well known for it. It has actually been classified in the DSM-V as having 'Jimmyism'.
Or J-ism for short.

Smith called him out on his whinging about sledging out here one year too, so Jimmy likely hasn't forgotten his own raging hypocrisy being called out in public.

Never forgive. Never forget.

Interesting. So who was picked over Smith?

Presumably Root
Cook/Warner, Sehwag/Sharma, Kohil/Williamson, Root/Smith, Pieterson/Sachin, Flintoff/Kallis, Gilchrist/Pant, Warne/Ashwin, Broad/Johnson, McGrath/Bumrah, Steyn/Lee

Would have gone for Kallis, Gilchrist and Bumrah

Flintoff over Kallis is a worse call than Freddie over Stokes 😂😂

Cook
Sehwag
Kohli
Root (I'm English so won't go against our GOAT)
Sachin
Kallis
Gilchrist
Warne
Broad
McGrath
Steyn

England bias / possible close friendships with Root and Flintoff explains the Smith and Kallis omissions given the binary options he was given, and a bunch of good players just weren't given as options, but Pant over Gilchrist is still a weird one. Rest seems fine/predictable to me.
