Whatever it takes!!!
Didn't you (or maybe someone else) point out McGrath averages 27 at 70 in SA too?Avg 30 at SR of 70 in SA is not a good look for such a quality bowler.

Not so much swing friendly, but definitely seam and pitch friendly.Kinda flips the received wisdom about him on its head. "Sure he was a gun bowler in Asia, but did he have the skills to capitalise in swing-friendly South African conditions?"
Possibly, but I don't remember it...Didn't you (or maybe someone else) point out McGrath averages 27 at 70 in SA too?
It's only since 2014, so 5 games. It's noise.Avg 30 at SR of 70 in SA is not a good look for such a quality bowler.
Please refer to the thread title. In all seriousness though, is Anderson amongst the top seven fast bowlers in the world.
Definitely Better:
Cummins
Bumrah
Rabada
Jamieson
Probably Better:
Hazlewood
Wagner
Nortje
Sharma
Siraj
Could even argue for Southee and Boult here
Has he ever been a top three bowler for any sustained period?
Stuff like this is because Anderson was generally rubbish away from home until around 2009 and they've just stuck with the pre-conceived notion that Anderson sucks away from home despite a massive body of evidence against that.you didn't need to be so scared gimh, i went and checked and he was actually really good everywhere.

far, far more destructive at home than away but he did his job away from home. fair credit to him, i expected more duke ball spam and i was wrong.
I think this thread appeared shortly after a 5-0 Rangers win, so I thought maybe you'd had a few. Please refer to the thread title.
The thread is 100% serious.I think this thread appeared shortly after a 5-0 Rangers win, so I thought maybe you'd had a few.
The fitness and the drive are the amazing qualities IMO. Bowlers get to know more and more about their own body, bowling and situations as they play more but usually they are done or their body/gifts are deserting them around the same time. McGrath seemed an exception along with guys like Walsh but now Anderson is making them look actually young. lol.The bloke just gets better and better.
Pretty sure that average in South Africa also includes the series in 2015 or 16 where he was injured and only played 1 test.He was turd everywhere in 04/05 though, and not much better than decent in 09/10.
There might be something to it. He's definitely not as good in SA as he is in England, but I don't think we have enough to say he's worse there than he is away from home in general.
Reminds me of Tom Brady, who is like 42-43.That's not a 40 yo bowling atm. Anderson must be a Pakistani cricketer in reverse.
5 years ago he might’ve come back on after lunch? He’s still very close to his peak level right? Not seeing any signs of decline at all this summer.
