Similar to how Tendulkar's legacy was made in the 90's, Hobbs's was cemented pre war.
I think it started pre-war but was cemented afterwards. What with him scoring his 100th ton in 1923, scoring 100 tons after the age of 40, not having a single bad series for 20 years until he was 46.

Personally, I would’ve been shocked at his performance after the war, I would’ve thought the war would’ve deprived him from potentially breaking the record books - and then he went ahead and did it anyway.
