I think you are severely overestimating the previous War cricket knowledge of you regular joes.I think this is wrong ftr. It's more in the vicinity of 0.3%.

T20 may pay the bills, but the most important form of the game still remains tests. When that changes, the game is dead regardless.Real cricket or not, T20 is the future of the sport.
Cricket survived because it evolved - Timeless tests, 5 Day Tests, 60 overs ODI, 50 overs ODI and now T20.
Yes and I think you are severely underestimating it. Watching a test, some statistic comes in that includes Jack Hobbs, and boom: everyone paying attention now recognises the quite memorable name Hobbs.I think you are severely overestimating the previous War cricket knowledge of you regular joes.
T20 is the reason the game is thriving today.T20 may pay the bills, but the most important form of the game still remains tests. When that changes, the game is dead regardless.
We are playing a lot of tests too....Don't think judging by a small saple of people around you proves anything.Real cricket or not, T20 is the future of the sport.

Yeah that's a really good point.Yes and I think you are severely underestimating it. Watching a test, some statistic comes in that includes Jack Hobbs, and boom: everyone paying attention now recognises the quite memorable name Hobbs.
Hmm based on that it looks like the future of the sport is actually T10s.Real cricket or not, T20 is the future of the sport.

Jack Hobbs doesn’t really stick out in terms of statistics like Don Bradman.Watching a test, some statistic comes in that includes Jack Hobbs, and boom: everyone paying attention now recognises the quite memorable name Hobbs.
T10 is just silly but if that is the future that’s okay. As long as it can fund money for test cricket, that’s good enough for me.Hmm based on that it looks like the future of the sport is actually T10s.
Bother to explain why T10 is silly but T20 is not?T10 is just silly but if that is the future that’s okay. As long as it can fund money for test cricket, that’s good enough for me.
Be real, People in SC don't really care about don either, they'd go on and say he played with plumbers. And don't think most of them know anything outside Sachin, Kohli, Dhoni, Yuvraj etc.Jack Hobbs doesn’t really stick out in terms of statistics like Don Bradman.
The only place Jack Hobbs’ name may come up is batting averages. As great he is, he doesn’t stand out from the others like Don does.

Understatement. Many Indian fans rate Sachin higher than Bradman or at least as good as him from what I’ve seen
The majority of fans who attend T20 don't even grasp or understand the sport, far less it's history.T20 is the reason the game is thriving today.
We have to accept the reality the vast majority of fans are not interested in test cricket.
I isn't watch either, well odi's either to be fair.I am used to t20 for a longer time so it seems fine
I have never watched a single t10 match so it seems silly
Like Don or not but you can’t ignore him - He is literally at the top of every possible statistic that he will never be forgotten.Be real, People in SC don't really care about don either, they'd go on and say he played with plumbers. And don't think most of them know anything outside Sachin, Kohli, Dhoni, Yuvraj etc.
Cricket is still viewed as the rich man's sport in England as it's not taught in most school's and is pretty locked off to the general public, tests I feel are still the most respected format but might be due to the Ashes. We are playing a lot of tests too....Don't think judging by a small saple of people around you proves anything.
@Johan could you provide some info about general people's perception about cricket in England?
Sounds alright to me.Cricket is still viewed as the rich man's sport in England as it's not taught in most school's and is pretty locked off to the general public, tests I feel are still the most respected format but might be due to the Ashes.
