This.....Why are we discussing Sachin's political correctness in Hobbs vs Tendulkar thread? do we even know Hobbs's political views?
My problem with him was more so him folding under Govt pressure and speaking in favour of the government when they were clearly in the wrong during the Farmer's protest. It wasn't even like he said the protestors were wrong, he saved his image there; but that international celebs shan't talk about it at all.The idea that athletes need to use their platform is dumb.
If they choose to and are able to make a positive difference then all power to them sure. But it shouldn’t be any sort of expectation. Just let Sachin be Sachin.
I am saying be more vocal on cricket issues. The idea that athletes need to use their platform is dumb.

Unless they’re actually coaching or in an administrative role, then no, this is also unnecessary. (I don’t know if Sachin is tbh)I am saying be more vocal on cricket issues.
He was temporarily for quite some time in a 3 man board (alongside Sourav and Laxman) tasked with selecting coaches and probably selectors.Unless they’re actually coaching or in an administrative role, then no, this is also unnecessary. (I don’t know if Sachin is tbh)
Sachin is worth more than ₹1000 crores and he has numerous properties all over the country. If he goes against the government, he will be in unnecessary trouble. My problem with him was more so him folding under Govt pressure and speaking in favour of the government when they were clearly in the wrong during the Farmer's protest.
No need to go against them, everyone can't and shan't be criticized for that only, atleast much. But siding with them is a different thing.Sachin is worth more than ₹1000 crores and he has numerous properties all over the country. Sachin never sided or opposed any political party. No need to go against them, everyone can't and shan't be criticized for that only, atleast much. But siding with them is a different thing.
I'll do it for them and it's as if they're being dense on purpose. And I've mentioned this before. Many many games in the 80s like now was affected by weather but unlike now, tests weren't extended or started early to make up for lost time.Have you ever looked into the win rates of the era and see why there were so many draws?
Especially in the WI?
It would be instructive for you to take a look.
I am specifically talking about the time of farmer's protest. When International celebs were tweeting about it (especially Rihana and Thunberg), letting it to gain international notoriety, Indian government led down to play damage control and made a bunch of celebs tweet basically "shut the **** up, it's our domestic issue" to the international ones. Sachin was one of them and definitely the most unexpected.Sachin never sided or opposed any political party.
Except for the one time he got nominated by Congress to Rajya Sabha, he has been the most political neutral celebrity I have known. Even his Instagram or Twitter posts are very boring and it’s the usual wishing on birthdays or festivals or related to cricket.
So Sachin was just Shakib before Shakib?I am specifically talking about the time of farmer's protest. I’m sorry, which test matches were being rescheduled and extended during the great Australian team’s era?I'll do it for them and it's as if they're being dense on purpose. And I've mentioned this before. Many many games in the 80s like now was affected by weather but unlike now, tests weren't extended or started early to make up for lost time.
I'll list a few examples of weather costing WI sure/very likely wins:
2nd test 1980 series in England
5th test same series
3rd test 1980 series in Pakistan
4th test 1980 series in Pakistan (the 4th test moreso)
1st test Frank Worrell series 1984
2nd test same series
3rd test WI in Pakistan 1986
1st test 1985 series NZ in WI
2nd test WI in India 1987
These are matches followed via radio, TV wasn't what is today back then.
?? Who even mentioned the great Australian teams? But fine let's see:I’m sorry, which test matches were being rescheduled and extended during the great Australian team’s era?
Which other team would they be compared to??? Who even mentioned the great Australian teams? But fine let's see:
NZ tour of 2001 ended in an unlikely draw. I distinctly remember one or two matches either being started early or extended to make up for lost time
Australia tour SL 1999. 2nd and 3rd test were draws and rain eventually won out but there were plans on several days to start play early and extend play to make up for lost time
No doubt Australia played a more aggressive form of cricket (especially batting) and thus won at a higher percentage. Was that ever a question. But the issue of WI not winning as much in their time was brought up and I responded based on my recollection. If you know better then be my guest....
Oh that was your contention? Next time lead with that. Probably. Yeah if wi had a spinner even at the caliber of a Macgill they'd prefer have won a few more.Which other team would they be compared to?
My whole point was that compared to other great teams they have a far higher ratio of draws because of them having a pure pace attack. I think almost everyone would agree that the Windies attack was definitely superior to the Australian one and bowlers win matches but you need a spinner not just because of varied conditions but because only having pacers significantly affects the time you have to bowl out the opposition, despite the quality of the bowlers.
Perhaps read posts before jumping into argument eh? Especially when you jump in a couple days lateOh that was your contention? Next time lead with that. Probably. Yeah if wi had a spinner even at the caliber of a Macgill they'd prefer have won a few more.
I'm in disbelief that one innings of 72 under such uninspiring circumstances is being put forward as a noteworthy point against anyone. Letterlone Viv Richards. That's literally the only innings of any note Gavaskar had against a young and raw Hadlee in that series and it was being implied as some hefty mission accomplished. This is fanboyism seldom witnessed.
Yes sir Mr Coronis sir!!!Perhaps read posts before jumping into argument eh? Especially when you jump in a couple days late
