gonna copy my post from the match thread and put it here
Jeez the story of this series can't be told enough.
Global Pandemic
Players living under lockdown and quarantine for the whole series.
Come into this series without Ishant Sharma, a few youngsters in the batting lineup, and lack of FC games in the build up. Oh and Kohli is set to leave after 1 test.
Start the first Test well, get a 53 run first innings lead, but then get bowled out for 36 (with Shami getting a broken ****ing arm in the process) and lose the game.
Kohli leaves, Shami ruled out for the series
Bounce back to pull off an incredible win in the 2nd Test, but then lose Umesh Yadav to injury.
Aus gain Warner back for the 3rd Test, and India are forced to debut Saini. Rohit Sharma returns as opener after injury with Agarwal and Shaw both failing to impress. India are behind the game for most of the Test, and then lose Jadeja to injury, but cling on for a draw.
Already frustrated with lockdowns and restrictions, Siraj was also racially abused.
Bumrah, Ashwin, Vihari and Jadeja all ruled out for the final game at a ground where Aus have not lost for 33 years. India is literally forced to give debuts to two Nets bowlers, one of whom hasn't played FC cricket for 3 years, and the other who wasn't even on India's radar until the recent IPL.
Beat Australia with a bowling attack that has a combined experience of 4 games, and a batting lineup that barely resembles the one from the first Test.
Only 2 players survive from the first Test, and yet India win 2-1.
Incredible stuff. Pujara, Rahane, Pant, Ashwin, Jadeja, Siraj, Bumrah, Gill, Rohit were all very very good throughout. Nattu and Washington had great debuts, and for all intents and purposes this could be considered Thakur's debut as well, given he limped off injured after 10 balls in his actual first game. Some really good leadership by the senior players and Shastri too, keeping the players in a positive state of mind throughout this series.
Hope history does this series justice.
