Is Rashid Latif completely nuts... or is he an innocent victim of unfair persecution?

I do take your point, but I meant I don't think he'd properly thought the consequences thru. Of course he's to be commended for being the whistle blower, but I don't think it's had a positive effect on his career as a cricketer.

Cricket is (obviously) a team sport & a pretty tribal one at that. Rightly or wrongly being your own man & rocking the boat isn't usually the best way to further your career, whether you're reporting match fixers or declaring on 33-4!
In the long-run you're always going to get the respect from those that matter for declaring stuff like match-fixing.
You're certainly going to get respect from the people concerned for declaring on 33-4, meanwhile - if anyone felt he helped them avoid genuine danger, they'd surely be eternally in his debt.

As I said before I don't know enough about the pitch in question to pass judgement on the rightness of his declaration, but I do agree history will probably judge him well for being the player to bring match fixing out into the open.

It's unfortunate that it may've made him enemies in the Pakistan board. Of course the right thing to do & the easy thing are seldom the same.

Fortunately The PCB do not dictate what will be written in the annuals of the game. :)
I've never thought he was as good as Moin Khan anyway, so I don't mind too much about that.

Moin Khan would be one of the most overrated leg spinners to ever send down a googly. My next door neighbour's walking framed mum could bowl better than that.

Erm, I doubt Moin would be noted for his leg breaks.

Especially as he keeps wicket.

As a keeper Rashid was/is far better than Moin!

A bit better (although Latif is as good as anyone, Moin really can be superb too, even if he hasn't shown it recently) I'd say - but Moin is much the better batsman.

yeah I know, were pretty tough aren't we? :p
Too "tough" sometimes.
A la Allan Border expecting Dean Jones to die before retiring hurt that time.

Nice to see the correct result, I think that Pakistan need him against Australia. Pak's new keeper is too new to suddenly play against the Aussies.

No need to know you're an Aussie beforehand.
what would you have guessed if he'd have written 'probably better to give up ideas of a victory and play for a draw'? :p

Thing is, Kamran Akmal is far from new - he's been playing international cricket for 2 years.
I don't really think Latif would have done much better than anyone in The First Test, meanwhile - nor can I see him playing any more Test or ODI cricket, though with Pakistan you never know.

That he wasn't referring to anything I had any idea about. :D

Even though the ban is lifted, i don't think he will be picked to play again for Pakistan.

Rashid was a bit naive, and far too honest a person, such ppl don't last long.
