Looked terrible in ODIs, plays his domestic cricket on a home pitch that really suits his bowling, isn't particularly quick (used to be even slower than he is now), fields like a gumby (again, used to be worse) and is a well-known as being a bit of a ****.Does anyone know why Philander had to wait so long to get a test cap? He is already 26 and a great FC record too
He's probably the new Zaheer Kahn. Similar type of bowler. No way is he the new Mcgrath. Reckon he will struggle outside South Africa.
Doesn't seem to be the master of manipulating the ball to earn wickets. Have not seen him bowl sufficiently long spells in tough conditions to back up such a claim. He's probably the new Zaheer Kahn. Similar type of bowler.
Think you're confusing him with Ajmal there.Asif had it in him to be an all time great. Too bad he threw it all away

Non-cricketing matters notwithstanding, Asif was still one of the best swing bowlers of the modern era.Think you're confusing him with Ajmal there.

the record is 6 matches set in the 19th century, difficult IMO. He is much better placed to break the modern era record of 8 matches.Wonder what chance there is of him being the fastest to 50 wickets ever?
Swing bowler is not what I how I would describe Asif.Non-cricketing matters notwithstanding, Asif was still one of the best swing bowlers of the modern era.
Rodney Hogg, Alderman and Alf Valentine. The 6 matches record was set in 1887 and ridiculously hard to beat IMOwho got there in 8 matches?
How would you describe him?Swing bowler is not what I how I would describe Asif.
Yes, I'd have put him down as more of a seam bowler, who had the great ability to get the ball to move each way off the seam, not to say that he didn't get a bit of swing.Swing bowler is not what I how I would describe Asif.
