Is Langer Trying to mock akhter?

whats wrong in racing around the city on a bike ?

anyway, even though the statement by Langer was probably mis-interpreted, the Aussies should really learn to keep their mouths shut. What was Langer hoping to convey with a statement like this ?

When I first read that I thought it showed that Langer was afraid of Shoaib, so much so he dreamt about him.

I fail to see how those comments denigrate or mock Shoaib?

Because he is a person and so likes to communicate his thoughts and ideas, quite normal in a civilized world. What is you problem with people doing what people do, or more to the point whats your beef with Aussie cricketers being humans?.

I took it to mean he's really excited about facing Shoaib at the WACA.

And good golly...I was right...go read his column on the BBC website.

Who really cares if Langer is mocking Akhtar? If Shoaib has any kind of maturity it wont make any differance.
Past experiences have suggested that Shoaib's maturity - while present of times - is inclined to go walkies, especially in heated moments.

The sad fact is, that Australia could, and should stuff Pakistan without having to say anything at all.. Except Yes, wait and no while batting..

But as we all know, that's not the style of some of them.
Some (top and tail - Langer - who always faces the first ball and is always the one to instigate the pre-series verbal war - and McGrath, who always faces last but is on and off field the leader in the sledging\targeting) insist on using mouth and ball. Others (Gillespie and Martyn to the fore) just let the cricket do the talking.

Akhtar and Langer were smiling a lot at each other today. Just thought I'd let you all know.

Funny - when Shoaib showed-up (again - just as Kyle Mills has been doing in the last 3 months) Hayden's glaring weakness and trapped him plumb lbw earlier today the commentators went-on loads about how it was a war-of-words between those two - not a mention of Langer. Ian Ward touched on it in the Sky studio, but no-one in Australia mentioned it (I wasn't up all night, might have missed something).
A bit odd, really - I didn't notice a thing said between Hayden and Shoaib.

I think Shoaib might have had a few words to say, I saw him saying something in the replay but not sure what. All's fair in love and war anyway! haha

I think the glaring weakness you mention might be directly connected to this slump of sorts he's been having of late. Doesn't seem like quite the same batsman.

No, I've always said Hayden has a massive weakness against the inswinger - never swayed from it, and was pilloried time and again during the 2001\02-2003 period.
I was very surprised that Kyle Mills exposed it so effectively, though - shame he didn't get the credit he deserved (should have had him lbw in every Test and ODI of the last 3 months - got him once :()

Didn't Akhtar point to the big screen or something after he got him? I remember seeing him do something with his arms (and no not the plane taunt).

My immidiate assumption was that he was doing the typical point-to-the-dressing-room.
Either way, he was clearly pretty pleased but I don't remember there being any big war-of-words between the two beforehand.

Nikhil\Vande - I really do wish you'd stop posting post after post trying to degrade Pakistanis - just wait until the series, OK? It's getting incredibly boring.
I concur.

There's been a bit of niggle there for a while. It didn't amount to a war of words before this series but there's always been some underlying tension. Early on in their careers Hayden questioned whether Shoaib could bowl any faster with calls of 'is that all you've got etc' and I think it's been a bit of a battle ever since.

Well it's not like Shoaib getting into single-combat is anything new, so I'm not that surprised.

haha, it looked like he was showing him the way off. Maybe he said something along the lines of "The oven's that way........have the lemon crusted snapper ready by 12".
