Is Jasprit Bumrah a chucker?

I know what a throw is. But these guys with weird amounts of flex in their arms look odd, and moreover seem to take more wickets than people with the classic ‘straight arm’ action.
Bumrah’s ‘run up’ is mostly a walk, a couple of hops, and then an awful lot of speed generated by his interesting action.
The leader of the pack in the ‘flex’ department was Murali. Apparently he had a deformity and couldn’t straighten his arm, so therefore whatever he was doing was all well and good apparently. Well that seemed to be the prevailing view, and the one the ICC went with. Another view would be that if you have a deformity and can’t get your arm to conform to the laws of cricket then that’s really unfortunate but you can’t play: the rules are the rules.
Muralitharan didn't flex his arm more than 15 degrees. That's what matters, not the deformity.

And in the case of Bumrah, well, it's quite the opposite of chucking, as his arm gets Bent while releasing the ball, instead of being bent initially and then straightened while releasing.

Sweet as, thanks for the info.

Define ugly.
You know it when you see it.

Ungainly. Stiff, awkward back position when he is running in. Arms flailing in parallel like an action figure during the bowling. The odd head position during release. Just seems like he is putting his body through a lot of effort and strain to achieve some sort of balance.

Many people say that the law was changed to accommodate Murli but in reality SL board never had any control ocer ICC & MCC.
I hate that fact that those suckers try to downplay his achievements.
Those people are just..... ignorant. Dr Marc Portus made a report based on his study in 2000-2003 period, and found out almost all bowlers (pace and spin) flex their arm more than the allowed limit (5 degreed for spinners and 10 degreed for pacers).
The recommendation of the ICC law was made in 2004, and it was adjusted to 15 degrees for all kinds of bowlers (because arm rotation speed is what matters, not bowling speed).

Everybody was doing it, Murali was made a scapegoat.

If there is no ugly, then there can be no beauty.

The Portus report and the 2004 ICC law change were made well after Daryl Hair called Murali in 1996. As the law stood at the time, Hair's call was correct. Subsequent tests of Murali and the Portus report and a revised law change legitimised Murali's action. Murali was never a scapegoat, he was the catalyst for change.
As for Bumrah's action, as unique as it is, it is perfectly legal and would have been before the 2004 law change.

The shape his arm gets into is disgusting. He's almost like one of those novelty acts that you saw on late night tv at weekends that would freak you out with shoulders, elbows or knees that would do freaky **** and when you'd a few beers it would make you feel ill.

Maybe we should have used our power over the ICC to get more than 2 test series 😂
