It's a **** statement, hardly reflective of reality. We have no need for racist liars tbh. You can kindly **** off.
Why do you have this rabid reaction every time objective, incontrovertible facts are presented about Ashwin. Are you a little fascist asking everyone who does not defer to your fave narratives about cricketers to F-off? Too bad.

That Ashwin is a hometown bully who has prospered on conducive tracks in India while having a worse record than Kumble in SENA even though the latter played without Bumrah/Shami combination is a fact that you cannot wish away.

The Indian TM knows this and the value Ashwin provides as a bowler which is why they drop him while retaining Jadeja in SENA matches.

Indian bowlers with 100+ test wickets by average:

Bumrah - 159 @ 20.69
Ashwin - 516 @ 23.75
Jadeja - 294 @ 24.13
Shami - 229 @ 27.71

Then you have

Bedi - 266 @ 28.71

and then Gupte, Dev, Kumble, Chandrashekar all at 29.xx

Top 4 are all current players.

Indian spinners never really bullied SENA (and other teams) as well as these two have.

Kuldeep/Axar to join the above list soon.

Add/remove DRS and hawk-eye and all the spinners mentioned probably end up with similar bowling averages.

Actually not. Almost all Indian spinners did bully touring teams. Bedi, Raju and Kumble just bowled on lot flatter pitches, and possibly much better players of spin too.

no they were just worse bowlers. Bedi highly highly overrated. Represented everything mediocre about 1970s India, and there was a lot that was mediocre

he was the George Fernandes of bowlers (not that children today would know who George Fernandes was)

Bedi may be, but not Kumble. So was Raju. The only left arm spinner to tame Lara. They may have been crap outside SC, but they were a handful at home.

Venkatapathy Raju lol. You’ve outdone yourself in hyping mediocrities. I thought you only did that with Lankans
He was mediocre every where, other than for that 93/94 West indies tour. Bullied Lara like a dream. That is good enough for a memory.

Sorry, but a poster who indulges in racism and lying about reality doesn't deserve hugs and kisses. Especially when you haven't apologized for being that way.

Please, kindly **** off and let the rest of us post in peace.

Migara's India favorites

Navjot Singh Sidhu - best player of spin he has seen
Javagal Srinath - fastest asian bowler he has seen, even above Shoaib
Venkatapathy Raju - best left armer he has seen

Whatever it takes!!!
Did get Mark Waugh with a beauty in the famous Eden test in 2001 though. Also remained not out while VVS was robbed by the umpire in the first innings.

A pointless thread

Bumrah isn't even the best Indian player right now and is not even in the top 5 bowlers in the world

No they wouldn't had. DRS is really a two-ways system and if anything, at home 50/50 (even at times 40/60) goes to the bowler.

DRS/Hawkeye changed how LBW are viewed. Pre DRS it typically would need to be plum LBW before the umpire gives it out. Post DRS/HE marginal LBWs are given out either by referral or because there has been shift in what the umpires are now willing to give out (they are more likely to give LBWs now)

This has helped finger spinners the most because padding balls away is a far riskier tactic now and rarely employed. Batsman are having to play the spinning ball far more now.

There was an article somewhere by some stats nerd who highlighted all this.

Yeah, but I still think the no. of decisions getting overturned in favor of batsmen isn't too few; and especially given that we are considering it solely on home, definitely not all lbws needed to be plum and the bowlers had an advantage for close calls. Probably umpires are more open for lbws now, but home umpires giving advantage to home bowlers should also be accounted for imo.
