brockley said:Australia A has an 80% winning rate against international touring sides,so i'd say australia A head and shoulders above the rest.
Team:
jimmy maher
marcus north
brad hodge
simon katich ( as he not in the onedayers)
mike hussey
russell campbell
shane watson
cameron watson
damien wright
nathan brakken
shaun tait
12th man ashley noffke.
This side would beat many international teams.
Hohns has stated that Australia 'A' will consist of up and coming players (with the exception of an established player returning from injury). No longer will they select Greg Blewett etc. even if its against SA 'A' sides.brockley said:If an A game was played against a lot of A sides today australia would probably go for youth unless it was a big series like south africa A,even then we fielded a weakened side altho there were bowling injuries.
The A side we play against touring sides is generally full strength symmonds and harvey have often played.
Trivedi? I doubt it. He has a bowling average in the 30's, while Munaf has it at about 25. Of course, Trivedi is a Border-Gavaskar scholarship holder, and may be a better fielder.India 'A' v Australia 'A' 'test' series would be great to watch too. India 'A' has the batting power, and some good upcoming bowlers like Trivedi, Munaf, Salvi and Mishra.
Arjun, you might know something about this. why's the hype around munaf suddenly disappeared. i've been following reports about bowlers camp but he barely gets a mention. is he out of the race.Arjun said:Trivedi? thanks for the update.Arjun said:About Munaf, I still see his picture and his name in articles. He is mentioned in the same league as Trivedi, Bhandari and Salvi. He's not hyped much, probably because the media know that it won't help anyone much. He's not yet out of the race, since he actually has power, missing in almost all Indian fast bowlers of the past, except Kapil. He can be a good international prospect, but his other skills need to improve, especially his fielding.
Salvi performed rather well in Dhaka, but injuries seem to have got the better of him. He is a good bowler away from India, and a lot better than Balaji, as statistics on SportNetwork ICF have revealed.munaf and salvi miss out. bhandari is in for asia cup.
I think i restricted myself to the best SA XI that has played fewer than five test matches... I guess I scraped through, although AFAIK Pretorius has played more...marc71178 said:For me it all comes down to what qualifications it is to make an 'A' side - I think there'd have to be some quite fierce restrictions...
